I hope this game helps the team realize what they can do when they don't try to match the other team's stupid turnovers. Also good to see Jak get a lot of PT. She's still an athlete trying to learn BB, but she's definitely showing signs of improvement. Hopefully there will be a couple more like this and we can look forward to her being a player next year.
Agree. I think her fundamental problem is she still has High School strength. Once she matures and has that full year of college strength training under her belt, she could grow into a very special player.
Yes, LHN is good quality all around. I'm glad we have it; we'll have more competition for airtime in the SEC. Brenda is a good broadcaster - she knows the history of women's basketball and is realistic about the skills of teams and players. Near the end of the game, she commented on the lack of a ranking for Texas schools and said something about how the polls are "someone's opinion." Better to have a pro for our games than Aunt Becky, LOL. (I was kinda hoping Taylor Robertson would break the 3-point shot record, so it would be forever noted in the OU record books that it happened at Texas - in a loss.)
Hadi's fouls remind me of back in the day when refs called "pushing off" on posts because, IMHO, they didn't think women were capable of and strong enough to be jostling and jumping under the basket. Looks like Hadi is a bit slow and flailing, so she gets called.
Vic's post-game presser still not posted on UT athletics' youtube page yet. That's pretty ridiculous considering that Rodney Terry's 1/26 media availability was already posted a little while ago. We can't even get Vic's post-game for a home game that occurred last night and was maybe the biggest home win of the season. If they want people to follow the program, they need to act like it.
Looks like Craig Way and Jeff Howe at least had him on The Horn FM today. Nice interview. Talks a little portal recruiting philosophy too: https://hornfm.com/2023/01/26/vic-schaefer-joins-light-the-tower/
Still enjoying the win a day later. But that’s going to be a hard team to beat on the road. Consistency. Vic says that’s what he’s looking for. Next up: a little payback for that other O team.
I agree ATX! The women's program has gotten short shrift for at least as long as I've been watching. Doesn't make sense to me. Do they not want butts in the seats for the women's team? As Vic likes to say "Come see us play and you'll be back!" CDC has done great things for some of the other sports. Does he just not have enough time in his day to focus on women's basketball? And really, some things just aren't that expensive - mikes for reporters at pressers!? My son is a junior and I'm taking him to the Tech game. I think he'll enjoy it, but I'm pretty sure he couldn't name a single player. UT women's basketball was/is not on his radar. He wanted to go to a men's game but I couldn't get tickets. Why is women's basketball treated like a poor step-child? And, how did women's volleyball get to where it is?
I agree that Brenda is a good commentator. Balanced, insightful and, as stated, well versed in women's college basketball. I would like to mention the other half of the broadcast team. He has been overlooked, and perhaps that's as it should be. The only time I really notice the play-by-play announcer is when they say stupid stuff. I noticed Alex Loeb in years past, but I think he's vastly better these days. He says what he should and and offers occasional insightful comments. Gives the color person plenty of room.
And still one or two in the room that couldn’t be bothered to use it apparently Who is Jeremy? Sounds like we need his email address lol
Classy lady with those comments....not just because it's our team she's talking about, but because I admire any coach who gives other teams and coaches the credit they deserve. That's one thing I really like about Vic, he is very respectful of opponents and their coaches.
Yes, Vic is all class when he is behind the microphone. (I am not hinting that is just a façade for the press...) It is a source of pride for me as a Texas fan, knowing our leader isn't going to show his *** to the world just because he is upset over a loss.
