I'm sorry Amina is leaving. I thought she showed a lot of improvement this year.

Yep, me too. I would have been less surprised if Jak had entered the portal. I didn't think she matured as much as Amina did this year. If Jak is sticking around I hope she works hard over the summer months. Texas will need her wingspan and rebounding capabilities.

I wish/hope Boutilier is ready to get in playing shape over the summer and wow us all. Unfortunately, I don’t even know if she’s been “cleared” to do anything but rehab and sit on the bench. I feel badly for her.

I don't believe she played much if at all her senior year in high school. So, she really hasn't played in a true basketball game in like 2 years. I know Vic saw a lot of potential in her, but injuries can derail any potential quickly.

Not at all concerned. It presents an opportunity to
With Abbie, do we know why she was injured wearing a boot? 6’9” is really tall and with all the pounding, feet fractures develop. Finger crossed y’all that she’s ready and healthy to contribute.

I'm skeptical. Wish Vic would go after Oldacre.

    The Bigs:
Faye: During the season it was made apparent that Faye wasn't coming back by the announcement that she would participating in Senior Day, even though she had 1 bonus year left. Obviously, Vic had a chat with her about her future, but that was even before we got into post season.

Herron: This one is slightly a head scratcher. On one hand he gave her playing time in blowouts (not that much 37:10 for the whole year), with the understanding she was still getting into shape from lack of playing for a whole year. But on the other hand....she must have left knowing that she wouldn't be getting more minutes next year or was it Taylor's return that made her decide to leave? She didn't play for a whole year at Kentucky. And then only 37 minutes for the whole year at Texas? Maybe she wants to play and not sit again for minimal minutes.

Muhammed: A surprise! I don't think she ever considered herself a 5, but sometimes she played 5 when Taylor was out. I guess she didn't want to split time with Moore.

Boutilier: This one is the biggest (sorry, pun) mystery. I thought she would be a prime candidate to transfer. A person who didn't play the whole year and would only be getting "Herron minutes" next year. Okay, 90% of the time I saw her, she was in a walking boot. So in my mind, I was always thinking, "Can someone that big run up and down the court like Vic demands?" I thought she would leave knowing she can't cover both ends of the court in this type of offense and defense Vic runs. OR, maybe she realizes she's out of shape and not 100% recovered and going to another school would still mean rehabbing and getting garbage minutes anyway.

Gaston: Shocked! But always thought she couldn't be a starter. Inconsistent. You never knew which Deyonna you were going to get that day. Looking for a place that doesn't care what they got each game.

Well, she's healthy, and she is a presence, but don't see the basketball skills.

Really? She played in 31 games this past season. Not astounding, but certainly more skilled than anyone Texas has at the moment to back up Taylor.

Oldacre is going from her sophomore to junior years and may be ready to come into her own. Looking at Miami's season stats, as a team they only averaged 66 pts a game. With all players listed averaging double digit minutes, none of them had stats that jumped off the page.

Agree with all y'all, until we see how Abbie runs on the court, we don't know.

But I am hopeful that Vic had success coaching Teaira McGowan, a big center who lumbered up and down the court, wasn't quick or fast, who earned SEC POY and DPOY, and became a 1st round selection.

If Kiki Iriafen is willing to visit schools outside of California, maybe she is our secret post player transfer visit this weekend . . .

I'm worried she may end up being the next Kaylee Carey. McGowan was big but she could move under the basket.

Is it just me, but it seems that Coach Vic has struggled recruiting elite post players to UT since he has been here.

    - He inherited Charli Collier in his first year.
    - Aaliyah Moore was recruited and accepted scholarship to Texas before Vic even got there.
    - He cannot seem to hold on to post players he has recruited or inherited from transfer portal: Latasha Lattimore, Amina Mohammed, Hady Faye, Tina Herron
    - Abbie Boutilier is a project, at best. She has had constant foot problems since high school.
    - Name me one premier post player Vic recruited out of high school since he has been here?
    - How did we lose Adhel Tac to South Carolina?
    - How did we lose Aalyah Del Rosario to LSU?
    - How did we lose Breya Cunningham to Arizona?
    - How did we lose Arianna Roberson to Duke?
    - How did we lose Me'Arah Oneal to Florida?
-How did we lose Jordan Thomas to West Virgina, yes West Virginia.

Has Coach Wis proven she can recruit post players. So far the jury is out on this one.

No doubt, Coach Vic has done much with less. But I do know this, we will get killed by LSU and South Carolina if we cannot compete with with them for elite post players in the future.

Clearly you're here to troll. But I'll tell you what... I'd rather not get the players and win conference championships and make three Elite 8 appearances in four years, than to have 10 freakin' McDonald's All-Americans on the roster and never win SH*T in seven years. Don't leave that part out. How about that???

Are you having a bad day or something? What is with your negativity?

I love Coach Vic and this program just as much as you. I'm just simply stating my opinion here. You do not have to agree with it.

But does that mean you have to be a jerk!

I am here to stay. And the last time I checked, I do not live under a bridge. :yippee:

Let me say something positive, just to prove I'm not a Negative Nelly.

Kudos for Coach in recruiting Justice Carlton. She is a very unique player who can play all 5 positions and very glad he kept her home.

To talk on the point of Vic not getting or keeping elite post players or whatever. You can go back to his days at Miss state he never had AA post players and if you referring to Tierra Mcgown she was barely top 100 coming out of HS and was viewed by a few as a project and she just worked her but off and got there. All of Vic post players have been blue collar worker types. So to the point he looks for a certain type of post player. A Big physical presence that can run, rebound, and help side blocks. Check my research I’m not wrong.
    Jessica Carter
    T McGown
    Abbie
    Faye
    Taylor
    Ebo
    Okorie
    Alawal
    Morris
All fit the mold I’m talking bout and none was HS AA so your point was?????

I know that Vic wants to make sure there is a culture fit for his players. I just want to see more dominating forwards and centers in the 6-4 to 6-7 range that will commit and be productive at Texas like a McCown. Vic recruited all the posts I listed, but they chose to go elsewhere.
