Win, or loose. I for one am thrilled we will not be playing aggy again. I hope the legislature does not muck this up and demand that Texas play aggy every year. Let them rot in the SEC! Texas is not interested in playing a second tier SEC team.

Actually we are, as we have with much fanfare signed up Ole Miss to a home and away in a few years.

I think they'll be as ever in the SEC - a middle of the pack team, who ever 3-5 years nuts up and plays in some bowl game close to Jan 1, getting stomped in it.

I'd like to see some home and away games with them in 5 years or so - sort of like Arky, where enough time has passed to make it nostalgic again.

Problem is, who replaces them on the scheudle. With Delo$$ Dod$$ running the show, I fear they will be traded out for a hired team to have another home game every year for more $$$$$. Thus, instead of a foolish team that you'd enjoy beating, we'll get to watch NW MIssour Tech or South Floirda State.

I'm going to miss it big time. Part of going to my parents for Thanksgiving weekend is going away. Food, Cowboys, Longhorns vs Ags on Tday. sad, really sad to see this go away.

I think that if the legislature gets involved in any meaningful way, it will be to block their move to the SEC. If they don't do that, I don't see them getting involved in the scheduling. The ones that might do that would be the aggy supporters, and they won't have any ammunition and so won't get anywhere with it.

Of course we'll have to start by having a huge bonfire with a little crappy doghouse on top to represent the burn when I pee hatred for that piece-of-**** program.

    TxRx,
Please as a PSA provide details on the location and required materials. I am in, urine and all. Wofford Sucks.

So, you'll play us when we are a bottom tier Big XII team but not a bottom tier SEC team? Say what you will but it would not be a good thing for this rivalry to end.

They"ll be replaced by BYU on the schedule. Should ND join the B12 and a 7-8 game conference schedule emerge, then I'd like to see aggie be on of our 4-5 ooc games. If it's simply BYU replacing aggie, I wouldn't want to be locked into aggie taking taking 1 of the 3 ooc games every yr. We've got some interesting ooc games scheduled in the coming yrs (ND, Cal Mary, USC, Miss) that I wouldn't trade for aggie. The next 3 yrs (2012-2014) would be easy for aggie to slide in to replace Wyo, BYU, and BYU ooc but 2019-20 would be the next opening for another home and home without canceling one of the more national ooc games... Even after 2019-20 I wouldn't want to hook up with aggie more than occasional home n home unless the conference schedule allowed 4 or more ooc games...

I agree that it's not good thing for the rivalry to end. Say what you will, but it's also a bad thing for the aggy to go to the SEC.

If Deloss Dodds alows the T-Day game to be ended. He should be fired.
UT and A&M should always play in football. The other sports are not as important.

First off, Notre Dame isn't joining the Big XII.

Second, it's bad for who? We are doing what we believe is best for us in the long run. The Big XII will more than likely be dead within five years anyways. We arent the only ones who have left and there still are schools that areloking to leave.

It's a bad thing for college football. It's a bad thing for UT. It's a bad thing for tradition. It's a bad thing for the aggy fight song. It's a bad thing for saw varsity's horns off. It's a bad thing for the guy who sells all the tshirts and buppers stickers with the said horns sawed off. It's a bad thing for agyy... aggy won't be aggy anymore without the rivalry.

Ok you convinced me...maybe most of those thing are good.

Yep FireRC, you're in complete control of your own destiny, but you're not about to tell Texas who we're gonna play and when.

It just happens to be in our best interest to play someone other than A&M, and we will.

You guys have been on Texags so long slapping each other on the butt, telling one another how great you are, you've all begun believing it. Thinking you're a top 10 team and all.

Hey top 10 teams finish the season in the top 5 more than twice with the last coming in 1956.

Top 10 teams don't go 13 years without a championship.

Top 10 teams win more than 2 bowl games in the last 20 years.

I'm all for playing someone on Thanksgiving who is a state rival, someone who has been loyal to the Big 12, someone like Texas Tech, but not Aggy ever again.

Off to the SECond with you.

Here's the thing ag fan...whether the Big 12 survives or not, agricultural will always be the school that ran away, rather than stay and compete. agricultural will be thought of in the same vein as arkie, and not just by UT folks.

Sell yourself all you want to that you're doing it for a competitive advantage, for your own identity, for the money, but agricultural is the one that's cutting and running.

Don't come over here with any bilge about "preserving the Thanksgiving tradition" by keeping your game with UT. You're losing it because AGRICULTURAL is running away from the Big 12, after agreeing to stay and play last summer.

You know ag, I just don't think UT can "trust" your word...know what I mean? We won't lack for a quality opponent to replace you on Thanksgiving...enjoy your new traditional game with 'Ole Miss State. [IMG]

Play agricultural again after this year??? I hope NOT in my lifetime!

It reads like you spend too much time on TexAgs. Being a top ten team has nothing to do with this move, its about the long term goals of our program. We're top ten so far this season, which means nothing but I like our chances to do well this season.

Our past performances are pretty pitiful but we seem to be trending in the right direction not only in football but as an athletic department as a whole. These past few years have been some of our best and it looks like we'll continue that.

This move is about whats best for us and less about Texas. The Big XII is a joke of a conference for number of reasons.

For about a year this would be the greatest thing for aggy since sliced bread. Then eventually the euphoria over "We sure showed those sips" will wear off from the constant *** kickings they are absorbing every week. They will not reach arky status, although they should be able to compete with KY, Ms St, & Vandy on a regular basis. .Sure, they will have the occasional exception when they are senior heavy like this year. They are prob talented enough this year to finally compete for a Big 12 title, & does anyone here think they would have a chance in hell to win the sec this year??? Remember that arky was an elite program until they went to the sec. They used to be in the mix for a national title most years, & now they are in the mix for an sec title every 6-7 yrs. But hey - at least they are out of our shadow. [IMG]

What is about to unfold really couldn't happen to a more deserving buffoonery. I just can't wait to start hearing "Big 12 sucks! If we played in the Big 12 we would be going to a BCS game"!

I like this thread as the unofficial official slam aggy thread. My wife said in her high school there were slam books passed around to slam students. So many threads lately have been slamming aggy, but this one seems to be the best - so far. We've moved on - after their attention-wh*re whining wears off and they move on, their 15 minutes of fame will be over.

Pretty pitiful is right, but what about this trending upward BS? Are you talking about winning a few games last year? Did you actually win anything? Conference Championship? Bowl game?

No, but you sucked a little less, whoop.

As for the Big 12 being a joke of a conference, with or with out A&M (see how unimportant you are) we still have two teams with more wins than anyone in the SECond.

    Enjoy the SECond.

We have been trending up with our talent on our team and our performance on the field. While we didn't win a conference championship, we were a little better than "sucking less". Diminish what our athletic program has done but it only shows you lack a grasp on reality. All of it could fall apart tomorrow but find me an athletic department that has been as dominating as ours has been in the Big XII the past three or four years.

As for the Big XII being pathetic with or without us, that's fine. Again, this isn't about sticking it to Texas even if you tell yourself that all you want. Stability and getting ahead of the eventual super conference realignment is in our best interest. We are looking ahead instead of simply reacting to national movement. The conference is a dead man walking and everyone sees it but you guys.

In my opinion, TAMU has definitely improved over the last few years in football. Denying that is silly. When you consider all sports, TAMU is strong in the B12 conference. Look at the record.

I, for one, hope the Aggies stay in the B12 even if the revenue split has to be adjusted. I like tradition. I do not like UT's alternatives.

That being said, if TAMU opts to leave the B12, they should pony up the penalty fee and realize that they have no right to expect any existing traditions to be continued. In fact, I would go out of my way as AD to terminate and prevent future meetings.

The grass (cash) may be greener but once you cross the fence, the grass on this side is no longer yours to enjoy.

And I would not afford the Aggies any chance to advance on the recruiting trail by playing UT or any other B12 Texas team on national TV.

i personally think that we should continue to play them... right after they play OSU, OU, KU, KSU, ISU, Missou, Baylor, and TTU... I see no problem if they will just do that. after all , it is our tradition..

Texas not playing us could work in our favor. The Horns could look like a petulant child that didn't get their way and took their ball and went home when the little brother decided to look out for themselves.

Leaving the Big XII doesn't kill any tradition. Texas refusing to play us wil kill tradition.

When arky left the SWC..they weren't crying about us playing them..we scheduled them a few times since..aggy should expect the same.
