Maybe the carriers aren’t persuaded of the value of the LHN. Sure, we want it, but what’s the business case for them? I’m not suggesting there isn’t one, just wondering what it all looks like from their perspective.
I talked to my cable provider today, (Wavevision). They have no plans to carry LHN. Additionally, they dropped FoxSportsNetwork a couple of months ago, and have no plans to pick that back up either. SOOOOOO, Dish, UVerse or Direct, who wants a new customer? (Just be the first...)
I've got uverse and the sports package and I even get t he byu network. They should carry the longhorn network
Calling (Time Warner anyway) is a BIG WASTE. All they say is that they have no plans to get the LHN at this time, and that Verizon Fios is the only carrier. I am in the San Antonio TW market ...would think it would be a given that LHN would be added to our line-up here. We are unable to make it to Austin this weekend - just SUX that we won't be able to watch the game on Saturday...
I live in Richmond,va. I switched from Verizon fios to direct tv 4 months ago... I'm contemplating paying the $350 early termination fee to switch back.
Agreed, this would be a monumental failure if the opening game and 1 of only 2 premium attractions for fans is unavailable. Plus if BYU is the second game on LHN, they would only have a week to fix the problem before all the momentum disappears. Absolutely ridiculous.
I just called the number for Comcast in Houston, and they repeatedly told me that they WILL BE CARRYING THE LONGHORN NETWORK.
Just hung up with DirecTv "customer service." They said they had no plans to carry the LHN and would "make a note" of the request but that they weren't passing the request on. Said there was no one else to call and talk to which is, of course total BS.
Here is Time Warner's response from an on-line chat. Still nothing to see here. I would still be surprised if they don't work something out. I agree that LHN should be reassessing their fee.
Called ATT-UVERSE told them that I would drop them if they did not carry LHN. The lady upgraded me to a 300 pkg @ no charge and is sending $50.00 Visa card to make me happy. I said great but still going away if no LHN.
Just got off the phone with Suddenlink ... they (Suddenlink) made an offer last Wednesday (8/24) and have not heard anything yet. She's pessimistic anything happens before Saturday.
The way things are going, if it gets picked up there doesn't appear there will be much worth watching!
We called Suddenlink today. He said LHN is asking more money than Suddenlink is willing to pay. He said everything is still in the negotiation stage and there is no timeframe involved.
Fortunately we have En-Touch (small cable company) here in the triving metropolis of Cypress, Texas north of Houston and I can't believe they are carrying LHN
So I guess we still have to pay to listen to the game? Maybe ESPN will have a sketch artist at the game and we can look at the drawings later. Somebody better tell me how I can watch the game.
UT1986, hum, if Comcast doesn't get LHN by Saturday, can I swing by to watch the game? I'll bring over a 12-pack of your favorite beer. And I have no criminal record (at least I don't think). Charles
Don't blame the cable providers. They were just standing around doing their normal business when the University of Texas decided to sell YOUR access to THEIR games to ESPN. It starts with that decision. And it was made solely by UT. ESPN possibly has over-paid so YOU'LL be held hostage to this. This doesn't even begin to address the loss of Colorado, Nebraska and A&M and possibly the end of the Big 12. But UT has their $300 million and are in full blown PR campaign to get you to brag about the money and to blame anyone but them for the current state of affairs.
I have nothing against UT volleyball, swimming, table tennis, etc, but my real interest in TLN is football, and if I miss the Rice game (the only football game currently scheduled for TLN), then I won't care whether Suddenlink adds TLN or not. Going unnoticed in all this is the fact that if UT hadn't started TLN, then we'd all more than likely be watching UT-Rice on some cable channel, probably KBVO or FSS. So, any finger pointing needs to be directed at the real grinch, UT.
Grow up. No one had picked-up the Rice game so it was LHN or PPV. Your ignorance has become very boring.
