I appreciate the efforts of McCoy and Ash and all those behind them....NOT DIVISION I qb's....they are just NOT!!!
I don't think so. Not with no blocking and just 1 good receiver. We were lucky to win 6 or 7. I don't see a win in a bowl game either.
true...and we've wasted 2 seasons looking for one...are we confident we found one going forward? NO sadly we played well enough versus OSU and K-State to win...didn't deserve to win the others... better than last year, but not much
McCoy definitely isn't physically gifted enough. His arm isn't strong enough. some of those interceptions wouldn't have happene if we had a QB that could zip the ball in there. Ash may have the tools. He's big and strong. But he wasn't ready. He would have been red-shirted at most colleges.
Unfortunately, unless one of the incoming frosh can play, we're doomed next year, too. Unless Mack finds a JuCo QB which isn't a bad idea.
With a solid QB we are prob 9-3 considering the injuries. We are not going to be as decimated by injuries for a long time. So I would say this team is lIkely 9-3 next year assuming only very modest QB improvement. If we have much better than expected QB improvement we have a lot of upside. Am very disappointed in the last 4 games of year but am very excited in direction of program. We will find a QB. If it is not another one, one of our existing guys or Brewer will improve and emerge. Of only because it cannot get much worse than this.
Case seems like a good kid, with some leadership abilities. But his arm is very week. today made this painfully obvious. The ball did not get to the recievers on time repeatedly. It floated, no zip. this just won't cut it. Three second half points against the worst defense in the big 12.
Also we have struck out on our WR recruiting alot. Other than Shipley, nobody has stepped up. Davis and Goodwin shows signs but are very inconsistant. I expected White to be a star but hasnt shown much if anything at all.
This team couldn't beat ISU or UCLA again at this point. It's much more than injuries thats problematic.
Well, with the current play/ability of our two quarterbacks, our probability of beating OU and Oklahoma State next year would have to be rated slim at best.
Better O-line play, receivers that drop fewer passes and healthier running backs will get us 2-3 more wins next year. Seeing more of the "playbook" and creative offense that we were promised would be a plus. I don't think these two will win many games on their own, but I think with improved game management skills with a year under their belts and improvement in the areas mentioned above we could be pretty good next year. Without some or all of the improvements mentioned above I don't think a better QB will do us much good.
