Big 12 Clearly Better than SEC Now

Ok 2much, but I think we can assume Colt doesn't turn it over 5 or 6 times thats leads to 20 points.

In my mind and I say that, in my mind, Texas wins that game going away with Colt. 34-17.

Great job Zona, very well done. Not only is the SEC overrated, but they are scared to play the big boys out of state.

If Colt hadnot been injured Texas would have won. Then if Alabama had not showed up Texas would have won. About the same reasoning. SEC is heads and shoulders above the Big 12 or 10. Any true lover of football can see this unless blinded by orange tinted glasses.

The Big 12 is a bit of an enigma. Almost every team (nice job Texas Tech) played a schedule with 10 BCS opponents this year, which automatically puts the conference playing decent competition week in and week out. The conference also did extremely well against its OOC slate (27-3). The problem is that there werent really any huge statement matchups outside of 1-1 vs Arkansas and Florida State. I think its fairly clear that the Big 12 is really good this year, and top to bottom better than the SEC, but I doubt its really as high as certain power ratings make it seem. If the Big 12 goes out and slaps people around in bowl season as it should (and particularly if kansas state smacks around arkansas) then it will be clear to everybody that the Big 12 was no joke this year.

Auburn was left out of a title game as an undefeated team, FWIW.

I feel like, top to bottom, the conference is great right now. Baylor, a cellar dweller, won a heisman. Kansas, the worst team in the league, just grabbed Charlie Weis and is threatening to grab a ND QB. Iowa State beat Iowa this year.

We've got 2 BCS contenders coming in - WVU was pretty much the best football school in the Big East, and they're in the BCS right now. TCU has been to 2 BCS bowls, and really should have been in a third.

Okie lite is currently good. So is K-state.

OU is gonna be OU, and Texas is working to get back to being Texas. When you look at the big picture, every facet of our conference is producing in some big ways. Amazing that we lose Nebraska, A&M, CU, and Mizzou, and get more productive in the process.

Bama scored 17 points on a total of 30 yards of offense. I don't think that happened all season long with Colt and would have been very unlikely Colt would have turned it over that much.

Outside of the 2nd quarter where they scored 17 points, Bama's offense was held in check and generated easy points from our own offensive problems/mistakes.

Why is it that people cannot see the SEC beyond the teams at the top. Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss St are rarely heard from.

    2much,
I agree with you that we shouldn't be claiming that we even win the game if Colt plays. What I think cannot be denied is that the game is VASTLY different. We played the entire first half running an offense that was basically intended to hold the fort while we waited for Colt to return. We were suddenly trying to run the ball - which we hadn't done all season and weren't prepared to do, and weren't capable of doing (team built around an entirely different set of expectations). One of the biggest criticisms of Greg Davis was that you needed a superstar QB to produce. Alabama exposed GD for this glaring and critical weakness - knock out the capable QB and you knock out Texas. They deserve the championship. People will always speculate because the game was in question with 3 minutes left with by far the most important player to his team on the sidelines for 99% of the game.
Colt is no Peyton Manning - not even close - but he was as much a part of the success and failure of the Texas team as Manning is the Colts and look at them. GD might be gone because of the fact that you can't win without an exceptional player at a single position.
