I found this posted by a guy over on Hookem.com... I hope Texas will reels this kid in b/c he's lighting it up over in Florida in preps for the All-American game! "Working here with Connor and Cayleb gives us time to work together and get it going," Johnson said. "Texas is getting a great quarterback in Connor. They are getting a big outside receiver in Cayleb that can do a lot of things. With me, I hope to give that offense some explosiveness and big play ability. When we get to Austin we will have some familiarity together." Committing to Mack Brown and the Longhorns was a no-brainer for Johnson. Texas offered in February, he went to a Junior Day in Austin, and gave Brown and the Texas staff his pledge shortly after. "I just have always loved the atmosphere at Texas," Johnson said. "It's such a great school with academics. The team and program are exceptional. Once I got that offer there wasn't too much to think about." Now Johnson is thinking about his future and what he can bring to Texas this fall. "You know I want to make the biggest impact I possibly can," Johnson said. "I will be ready."
Been reading where he's taking an official visit to Oregon. If he does take the trip I hope Brown pulls the scholly. I'm pretty sure that's what he's done in the past and I think it's what he (Brown) should do this time as well.
Mack selectively pulls scholarship offers. If it's a kid he seriously wants, he's more patient about the kid taking visits after committing. I suspect he'll wait out Johnson's visit to Eugene, and make sure UT gets in the door one more time for a visit before signing day.
These kids need to hold off on committing unless they are sure. He's going to be a good one it seems. I just hope he sticks with the Horns.
Most of us have been reading that he wants to 'trip' out to Oregon for whatever reason, whether to take a trip or to actually go see Oregon... if I was Mack, I would tell him that I'm going to start recruiting Bralon Addison and let the chips fall where they may! This new staff has brought in great ideas and are not shying away from rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty... I like it. The arrogance of years' past serves no purpose!
Lighten up Francis. We're not at the alter yet. I can't blame the guy - he gets 4 (or is it 5?) official visits. If he isn't 100% certain, but is 90% you want to pull his ship? I guess I should have told my future wife to effe off when we first started to date because she went on a date with someone else.
Hasn't he been wavering for a while with speculation that a certain former WR might even be in his ear about going elsewhere?? I hope we lock him down.
He can't be blamed for favoring the Oregon offense over the Texas offense as they are today. He'll likely head to Austin if he believes that Brewer can fill the role. As for visiting, a top recruit has five free trips so why not see the country?
