1/12 Update... From earlier this afternoon, It is being reported out of ar-Kansas that Dorial Green-Beckham or DGB, has narrowed down his list of schools from 5 to 2... and Texas along with ar-Kansas are the last 2 standing! Nothing as of yet has come out of Springfield, the Green-Beckham camp or DGB himself. DGB has a possible OV to Fayetteville this weekend, but he has a high school basketball game on Friday eve, so at this point, it's possible he may not make it. Nothing but good signs keep coming out of Missouri, but know this will go down to NSD.
Joe Schad says he's hearing that ar-Kansas Qb, Tyler Wilson is "seriously contemplating" whether or not to enter the NFL draft. DGB has acknowledged in interviews that the Qb situation at Texas did concern him a little bit! Word out of Fayetteville is also coinciding with this that some people won't be surprised if the QB for the Razorbacks does turn pro... So that you are aware, all of this has come up with Matt Barkley & Landry Jones both coming back for their last year and the next Qb in line being mentioned is UA's Wilson! This is really getting interesting.... The guy who reported the above, Oits Kirk of Hawgs247.com... says he wouldn't be surprised if Wilson turned pro!
Ya know... I just laughed out loud as a result that it was too much fun realizing this: DGB narrowing down to Texas and Arky is an Aggie's worst nightmare. Which one do you root for? It sucks large either way.
Whatever Patrino would do with him, he would do it against atm, your new sec cousin. At UT, you don't have to worry anymore, because, of course, he will do his thing and never will atm have to try to chase him down.
if he has seriously narrowed it down to ark and tex, then pulled out of his ark visit good sign for us!!
There are conflicting reports all over the place on this one. Here is one of the many. IMO I think Arky is the favorite and has a leg up in the race. I think family and the proximity to them wins out in the end with the Horns coming up short again in the OOS battle. I would have felt a lot better about our chances if we had signed Wallace. This is just my opinion and no inside info though.
I'd like to point out that Ryan Perrilloux had it narrowed down to Texas and LSU and then did not take his scheduled visit to LSU. This lead to much rejoicing on the Texas boards.
I'll go out on a limb and say we get both DGB and ME Jr. On 2/1 when they both sign on the dotted line I won't even say I told you so.
Guys... thanks for your notes! Without stealing the thunder from a couple of the paysites, I'll pass on what I can... even cryptic! With that said, Trifecta, dude... I love your enthusiasm! IF it turns out that way and both DGB AND ME, jr. both sign, I'm taking you to Vegas with me the next time I go... you will be $$$ for me, and I digress... Joe... I'm feeling your pain AND I still like where Texas sits at the moment! With 19+ days left to NSD, DGB still might become the Aggies worst nightmare... Texas Fight, I also hear conflicting reports and choose not to throw that info out there... the peeps from Ou/Sooner Scoop (rival site) are even saying that Texas isn't in his top 3! I will tell you that the guys at 247Sports are $$$, both in ar-kansas and at Hookem.com and well worth it! InsideTexas is good to, but also have their moments... as for the Springfield TV report, that's inline with what I've read & heard. I have been told that since DGB lives in Missouri, that if he doesn't sign with them, he will officially keep them in his top list for fear of public backlash... which makes sense. Tamster, it was "tweeted" this a.m. that Wilson will stay at Arky for another year, but that's only 1 year... I agree, what ever advantage that might have provided with Wilson declaring for the NFL, that has gone out the window... but that still doesn't make ar-Kansas the leader. Wilson is only there for a year and from what I've read, they have true freshman behind him and are thin as well... so go figure. With all that said, we still have 19 days (and a few hours) till NSD and we are talking about 17-18 yr. old kids who are enjoying all the attention. I personally believe that both the DGB & ME, jr. saga will go down to the wire. I think we have a shot at both kids, I'll call it 50/50 and no better... and chose to keep it in that perspective. I liken the recruiting of these two kids to Jordan HIcks & Jackson Jeffcoat from a couple years ago... and we will know who they sign with when they tell us... and till then, it will be interesting to see where all this ends up, but I absolutely freaking like that we have Mack Brown as a closer... there are not many like him out on the recruiting trail! Till then... it's a crap shoot. I've been a little long winded here, so It's time for me to STFU and post some news on ME...
why would he base his decision on a Senior QB throwing him the ball when he might not even start? Of course, he probably has a huge ego, thinking he would start every game his freshman year. To me, there are two factors in our favor. Nightlife in Austin compared to Arkansas, and if he is 75% as good as he thinks he is, he's gonna start every game his freshman year. Outside of Shipley, we have nothing coming back. (Of course I'm not counting Goodwin because I think he will be unavailable until October) I would think that with a receiver corps of Shipley and DGB, the defense would have to pick its poison and somebody is gonna have a big game every game, if Ash can get even remotely close with his passes.
He may have a huge ego and think he will start every game, but I couldn't disagree with that opinion.
DGB, get over here stat! You'll be a Texas legend the instant you sign with the burnt orange. Plus, with MB, Bergeron, and Gray you will have one on one matchups. Not to mention Jaxon Shipley occupying the secondary as well.
Any news on how DGB's visit with Ar-Kansas went over the weekend? Also sounds like he is planning a visit to Missu next weekend. When is macks in house visit? Sounding more and more like we are a long shot but 2 weeks tell signing time to pull out all stops
As far as I am concerned, no news is good news. I'm sure Arky put the full court press on this past weekend. Glad the headlines this morning didn't say he caved in and committed to the Hogs. Until he makes his decision, I'll continue to hope. Someone posted a pic of his girlfriend. After seeing her, I'm ready to go to Arkansas!
