Drove past a dollar theater and I'm thinking about taking one in when I get an afternoon off. Any suggestions on whether Dark Shadows, Battleship, The Dictator or John Carter would be more fun?
I thought John Carter was far better than the box office returns reflected. A victim of one of the crappiest marketing campaigns ever.
I've been told that John Carter was actually pretty good - I think I just had a mental block about going to see it. It just seemed like it had Waterworld written all over it. But I'm told it was good.
While I don't agree with most reviews, I have found that when a film is panned repeatedly there is some fire with that smoke. I haven't seen John Carter, but about half the people say it sucked, a fourth say it isn't as bad as others say, and a fourth that say it is pretty good. For me, that all adds up to waiting for Netflix streaming, a DVD rental, or ...a dollar movie on an afternoon when I have nothing better to do.
John Carter was underrated. It wasn't great but it didn't stink either. Dark Shadows is a fun flick and really good if you remember the soap opera.
