Reid says some Bain investor told him that Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years
and based on that juicy rumor Reid trotted it out to the press.

did it not occur to Reid to wonder HOW an ' investor" would know anything about Romney's tax returns?

This would be sleazy if some media pundit said it but not surprising.
Fo ra gov't leader to engage in rumour mongering like this speaks volumes about Reid's character. or lack thereof

And to think, if anybody but Sharon Angle had been his opponent, we'd probably be rid of him.

I would have voted for Angle over any of the other candidates.

It's not surprising that Reid would take a cheap and unsubstantiated shot like that. What's surprising is that he would aim it at a fellow Mormon.

He's a perfect fit for the out of touch Democratic party leadership. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Worst party leadership ever!

If I hadn't read this froma mostly credible source I would not have believed it.

    from Politico
"Reid doubles down on tax claims"
Earlier today, he doubled down on the unsubstantiated claim with reporters in Nevada:

"I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination," Reid said in a telephone call with Nevada reporters. "I have had a number of people tell me that."

Asked to elaborate on his sources, Reid declined. "No, that's the best you're going to get from me."

"I don't think the burden should be on me," Reid said. "The burden should be on him. He's the one I've alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn't he release his tax returns?"

The Democratic view, how so very very sad.....

So Harry has some knowledge of illegally obtained documents and he is a leader of this country.

Does he not have the ethical responsiblity to inform the IRS of everything he has and all knowledge? If he doesn't isn't that a crime?

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Hey Harry - I heard several years you made $3MM profit on land you had sold 3 years prior? Prove that you didn't basically take a $3MM bribe, you despicable little man!

I just got a phone call from someone that assures me Harry Reid shipped ammo to the guy in Aurora, CO. and helped him plan the shooting.

Let's hear it, Harry. What's your alibi? Can you prove you weren't involved? We need to know!

No not like the Birther thing, not even close please detail how it is the same?

As the birther thing is a Constitutional requirement, and with his father being a foreign national it was a legitimate question.

But I will anxiously await your detailed comparison, because I doubt anybody can see what you are talking about.....

Not saying I agree with the birthers (and now it appears that a lot of the inconsistencies are probably related to Obama claiming to be born in Kenya, ironically enough), but the birthers had a lot more subtance than Harry's accusation.

But moral equivalence is big with Mich, so if you want to pretend that the Senate Majority Leader calling a presidential candidate a felon with no corroboration whatsoever and on the strength of an anonymous phone call that only he heard is somehow the same as a bunch of conspiracy chasers who no one in the media listened to anyway, feel free.

It's not unreasonable for someone who was, or is, at Bain to tell Reid this. There must be some reason why Romney hasn't divulged his tax information and this certainly could be one of the reasons.

    Words are one's friend.
The person who told Reid this was not " at" Bain. it was an INVESTOR.
    get it? understand the difference?

Ask youself How would an ' investor" know anything about Romney's personal income tax filings?

    Really, how?

You are trying too hard. First read the artcles then apply some common sense

    and lastly

    let's say it is true
what ramifications are there now for this investor and Reid?

There could be many reasons why an investor would know this. That the source is an investor is not a conclusive reason to discount the veracity of the comment.

    Think about it.

The primary bit of data here is that Romney still has not divulged his tax information. Romney knows expected value; there's something there that is a liability. It could be a swiss amnesty, or not paying taxes for x years, or something else. If you want to dismiss the claim because the source is an investor then, as usual, you miss the point.

Ole Harry should have better things to do like maybe playing the part of being a senate majority leader. Hasn't it been over 1,200 days since he and the senate have submitted a budget???

Very easily. Someone at Bain with that information told the investor. He overheard people at Bain talking about it.

It is a mistake to base your defense of Romney on the fact that it was an "investor", as if an "investor" could not possibly know. It is possible and there are various scenarios.

The fact remains: Mitt has it entirely within his control to stop this, yet he doesn't. Why? It is a private affair, to a point. But the tradition and more importantly, the expectation, has been for Presidential candidates to release more than the minimum legal requirements of tax year filings.

Mitt is making a mistake by calling out Reid on this: the put up or shut up comment.

Mitt should release all of his tax records and his education records on the day that Barry Soetoro does the same.

Perham1, doesn't matter. Because more people will be turned off by the politics being played by the left than Romney not showing his last 10 years of tax return. Americans are not dumb and see the game Reid and the left are playing.
