Rangers win, 7-6. Not a pretty W, but nonetheless a W. Bullpen gave up too many runs, but held on to win. And the Angels completed the sweep of the A's. Lead now back up to five games in the West.

Way too close for comfort, but a win is a win. Hopefully, Feldman can have a good start (or at least a decent start given that the Royals pitcher is just as mediocre-to-below-mediocre as Feldman) and the Rangers can take care of business tomorrow. [IMG]

22 ba-bee! Looks like pen struggled - but methinks they get no grief from this corner. Give up runs and still win? Fine by me.

A little too close for comfort last night and now we get to sweat out a Feldman start to try and take 3 of 4 in KC. The Angels cooled off the A's for a series and a 5 game lead with 26 to play is nice but by no means comfortable.

The math is getting better though. If the Rangers just play .500 ball over these last 26 they will finish 94-68 and that forces Oakland to go 18-8 just to tie (and forces the Yankees to go 17-9 to tie for best record). The Angels would need to go 20-5 to catch the Rangers in that scenario. The Rangers playing at all over .500 over these last 26 should not only win the west but get the best record in the AL too. yeah, last night was a little too close for me too... Ogando worries me the most among our pen relievers... Feldman needs to pitch well tonight and get back on track to win 5 or 6 in a row like he did before.

    can't blame Feldman tonite....left with a lead

Ogando = misused imo...he'd throw over an inning on a tues, get the call again on a wed and friday...takes its toll

Bad thing is Wash doesn't realize he's doing anything wrong. I know I know....he's winning games....OK, but what MLB Mgr wouldn't with this team?? Winning games isn't the goal, it's championships

Wwash is great if you're a vet and everyday player.....he'd be a lot of fun to play for....for a pitcher who knows better, notsomuch

Very Nice W tonight in KC. Rangers now lead Oakland by 5-1/2 games - and lead Baltimore/NY by 5 games for best record in the league.

On to Tampa - 2 of 3 would be a nice outcome and a great end to the road trip.

OAK is five and a half games back. LAA is 8 games back... as long as we don't get swept by TB we're home free. We get CLE after that, then 18 games vs the west rivals.

Thank goodness for Dempster (and thank you JD). Guy is 5-1.....where would the bullpen be w/o those innings he ate up, not to mention 5 outta 6 decisions?

It would be nice to freeze Dempster and not let him change! I enjoy watching him pitch when he's keeping the ball down.

With exception of Kirkman, Wash's pen appeared to do great last night - plus he had Adams for 9th and Nathan for 10th. No complaints here.

    21. Could/Should(?) get in the teens this weekend. Go Rangers!

5-2 on the road trip and now 3 in Tampa. Before the trip I was hoping for 6-4 now am getting greedy and looking for a series win against the Rays. Tampa has all the motivation in the world too though as they are just 2.5 back in the east/wildcard race.

I was so angry last evening zealots - one of these days, POW I am going to break Kirkman's pitching arm and put him out for the season [IMG] It is past time to send him down or trade his sorry ***.

Well, tough series coming up for the Rangers. They will be facing the Rays' two best pitchers on Sat. and Sun., so it sure would be nice to take Game 1. Holland's on the mound so it'll probably be dicey. Any predictions as to how many innings he goes before he gives up the long ball? I say he makes it to the 3rd.

Holland made it to the 4th before giving up a HR but otherwise pitched a gem. The problem was the lack of offense and missed opportunities. Rangers lose 3-1 in 11 as Lowe gives up a walk and HR to get the loss. Tough one to lose. I'd be happy if Texas took one of the final two at this point.

Tough loss in extra innings - wasted an outstanding performance by Holland. Got to score more than one run to win most games. Oh, well - Darvish starts tomorrow.

This may fall under the category of "you can't win 'em all." When's the last time you said, "we wasted a great performance from Holland and a homerun from Young?" [IMG]

rough night all the way around as Angels, A's and Yanks win while rangers lose a tough one. 24 games left and if the Rangers just play .500 they get to 94 wins, have to think that will be enough to win the west.

I have never had an ounce of confidence in Mark Lowe. He's got electric stuff, but he doesn't have a clue of what "command" means.

There's a reason why his holds/games ratio is so incredibly low: it's because Wash rarely pitches him when the game is still in doubt. Last night, Wash did, and we saw what happened.

Rangers on the verge of wasting another gem of a starting performance. Other than Josh's two-run HR, the offense has not been able to do any damage to the Rays rookie started. Texas had a 2-1 lead with two out in the 8th before a Kinsler error leads to the tying run. Darvish has given up only 2 hits through 8, but has a tie game to show for it.

Rangers go quietly in the 9th and Adams is coming in to pitch the 9th. That dude makes me nervous these days.

Profar with big hit to score go ahead run and then Hamilton HBP with bases loaded gives Rangers some insurance. Nathan gets save number 31 and Rangers get 4-2 win in spite of trying to give it away with Kinslers error. Would be nice to see seattle do something with oakland this evening. [IMG]

Nice win for the Rangers tonight - but it sure would be nice to win one in nine innings!

Oswalt and Shields tomorrow - a W would end a good 7-3 road trip.

    20. Let's break this barrier Sunday.

Baseball karma working for the Rangers getting the win in 10. Adams and Nathan working the 9th/10th. As long as those guys don't look at the scoreboard and come in and do their job, things go well. Profar is exciting, and a tip of the cap to the bat of Geovany who has provided some clutch hits. Josh picking up where Beltre has left off.

Nice win. Another one today would make for a very successful road trip (although a 6-4 trip isn't bad either). A's and Angels are definitely keeping pace though, so the Rangers can't get too comfortable.

Oswalt isnt showing much and Rangers already trail 4-0 through 3. Even with loss today they go 6-4 on this ten game road trip which is more than acceptable. 6 game home stand coming up and really need to go 4-2 or even better 5-1.

Assuming the loss today and looking at schedule it is hard to see Texas not going at least 11-11 over last 22 which gets them to 94 wins. Oakland would then have to go 16-8 over their last 24 (including today) to catch the Rangers.

Nothing is settled so from Tuesday until the end of the season:

    3 with the Indians

6 with the Mariners and Angels

7 with the A's (including the last 3 at Oakland)

The Rangers could win it all with a 10 game lead or miss-out on the playoffs altogether.

Yep, this race is far from over. Rangers drop 2 of 3 in Tampa while A's and Angels sweep their respective opponents in their most recent series. Rangers go a respectable 6-4 on their road trip while, at the same time, Angels and A's go 9-1 and 7-3 respectively. I think this one will get tighter before all is said and done.

^A's and Angels play a four-game series against each other this week. It would be nice to see them split the games while the Rangers beat up on Cleveland.
