I just kept watching that game last night thinking "I've never seen OU look this clueless on offense before." Part of it is just that they have not one, but two QBs who don't appear capable (or at least ready). Blake Bell is flat-out bad... a running QB that's slow, and basically only good for QB dives. But that's not bad enough... Stoops seemed determined to use Bell outside the tackles on plays that he's just not quick enough to execute. I'll take him running east-west waiting for a hole to develop all day long if I'm an opposing defense. The Bob Stoops I've watched and loathed all these years would know that. So they can't stretch the field, they can't run with power if it's not a QB dive... I don't see any aspect of their offense that really threatens anything. The fact that they're rated at all is just proof that voters don't watch very many games and just go on reputation... because that's a bad football team.
ou has a significant lack of talent on both sides of the ball. it's shocking to me that blake bell is the best they can trot out at QB. and i agree with you about the playcalling...but then again, baylor was getting a good push on the LOS. seemed to me like trevor knight was eating up yards last night. i wonder why he didnt get more PT?
While we were recruiting QBs to play as DBs, it looks like ou was recruiting sandwich artists to play QB.
It may be hard to accept, given our current situation, but OU is in worse long term shape then UT. We may very well be getting ready to go on a little run of our own against the Sooners in the RRS.
I am really enjoying this thread. Especially in November. And I can't believe there's been this many posts and nobody stated the obvious: OU Sux!! Hook'em!!!
It's funny to see how many OU fans are hitting the panic button and suggesting Bob Stoops should go. My favorite was a guy who basically said "It's time for Bob to realize his zenith at Oklahoma was a while back, and retire before he gets ousted just like we've been saying Mack ought to do - oh wait, Mack destroyed us and is leading the conference."
