I can't find mention of it in the game thread, but didn't Brown fumble on 2nd and goal in OT? The Fox crew didn't say anything or the LHN guys so maybe I'm wrong.
I saw that too, but it was so quick, no one even realized it had happened. That ball really shot out of there. Thank goodness, the Horns recovered it.
We actually picked up close to a yard on it. Can't believe the announcers missed it. Oh wait, it's Fox, I can.
I didn't see it live either, and thought the spot was weird because it looked like we lost a yard. Then they showed the replay of it in slow motion...the announcers still didn't notice
Joey Harrington and the other Fox guy couldn't say anything because they had their noses so far up the Mountaineers' asses.
Announcers missed it totally but WVU defender absolutely blasted the ball out of Brown's grip...but ball shot out right to Horns players; even made a short gain. Whew. Game was almost over right there.
I think that FOX commentator was hittin the bottle last night. All game, he was screwing up names, down n distance and, how he missed that fumble is beyond me.
It wasn't easy to see live but all of a sudden one of our linemen had it right by the goal line. It really showed when they replayed the down with the camera angle coming from behind and I can see how everyone missed it because it was so quick. I think the refs didn't even see it which is why we got that particular spot.
Not a mention of it in the Austin American Statesman coverage. Did the radio guys notice on the broadcast?
Either they ruled we were down before fumbling or just nobody reviews the game stats (which is actually quite possible, I've found mistakes in other games on occasion) because the official box score doesn't have us as fumbling there.
Bolerjack should try to contractually get only Tech games at times they all have the same dumb name. This would cut his name mistakes in half.
I was thinking we better not pull an ISU before the play. Then I laughed the thought off. And sure enough there goes the ball. I was shocked. That's 3 goal line fumbles (2 at ISU) that nearly ended any redemption run we are on. It's unbelievable to know if any of those were recovered by the opponent or the call went against us...this happy bus would be empty and broken down. Mack would be a goat again and Case would be viewed as the erratic, second tier QB he plays like. Perspective, we are far from a solid football team still, regardless of how many lower level conf teams we defeat.
If you listen closely you can hear whistle blow just as recovery is made and ref marks the progress where recovered, not where Brown is. Refs ruled fumble ... everyone else seems to have missed it.
Not that it matters, am I the only one that felt our player could have picked it up and walked into the endzone without anyone but the refs noticing? It worked out better this way because had the fumble TD happened, everyone would have talked about how the Big 12 gave Texas another game.
The fumble omission and other deficiencies are why I usually turn down TV sound and listen to Craig. Quan Cosby does a good job on the sideline. Last night, I was not listening to the radio at that point of the game, so don't know if Craig missed it too. I think the tight end (either Swaim or Daniel) recovered the fumble a yard or so ahead of the Brown spot..
The announcers totally missed it, but you can see the fumble (and recovery) at the 2h:59m:30s mark here... Texas vs West Virginia 2013 Texas dodged a bullet there, Longhorn tailbacks often suffer the goal-line fumblitis syndrome at the end of ball games.
Yes, it does lol. It also is astounding to me that there is apparently no accountability and nobody double checking these things after the fact.
Didn't see it realtime during the game or even on later review, but on the replay, it flew out of his hands. Real time it was wierd since Brown dives into the pile, and Daniels gets up with the ball in his hands.
Our guys have a serious hands problem when we get inside the 5. Whether it was Gray against ISU, Bergeron against OK State, or now Brown, you'd think that ball security would be item #1 on the list.
My favorite quote of the night from Joey Harrington was comparing Joe Bergeron to Eddie George. Really? Our future Heisman winner and first rounder is #3 on the depth chart. I wonder if Case McCoy reminded him of Sam Bradford.
I only saw it a couple of times, but it looked like the WVU guy's helmet made direct contact with the ball from the side and it shot out. Could have been disastrous.
