Tejas, I was a wrestler. I only hung out with Cale Gundy from the football team. I knew him and Mike because they haled from Widwest City which had a damn good wrestling team. Unfortunately, my freshman year was the first year Barry Switzer was no longer there, so no good times anymore in the athletic dorms.

Oklahoma is a football rival because since hiring Wilkinson they have beat us with greater regularity than others and they are fiercely proud. So what I've spent some time there on business and overall like the place. In appearance a lot of it is not unlike the Dallas area---some of drab. Tulsa and lately Oklahoma City are pretty nice cities. I quit "hating" them a long time ago because there is really no reason to. They cheated for a while and were out of control for a while. Sort of like every school in Texas except Rice. Some of you should grow up. Agree Boswell was an ahole; my favorite play in history was him trying to tackle Bo on the goalline.
I understand. I hate when some ahole yells boomer, trying to get someone else to yell sooner. I hate the horns down. I will even admit that to level of white trash is higher at OU home football games than at UT and even Aggie games, but that is because Texas has more wealthy folks that OK. If the state of ok was the size of Tx, it would be very similiar in many ways. Switzer did cheat and was a rebel. I also believe TX cheated, because I think they had to in order to compete in the SWC. One thing I do believe today, is that neither cheat now and run as honorable as programs as any in the nation. Look at all the schools that have been in trouble lately: Penn State Ohio State Miami USC Remember when the Pac 10 and Big 10 "never" cheated. President Boren all but said when the whole OU to the SEC talk was going on that no way we go to that "win at all cost" conference. That is in our past. As far as hate. I no longer have it for UT. Maybe is was Mack. Maybe it is because after a while you grow to have some respect for the enemy.
as if we have no jerk fans at UT. When Oregon trotted on the field in San Antonio a chorus of boos came with them. NOwhere near a majority of our fans but plenty enough to be heard and noticed. And having attended maybe half the OU games in Dallas in the last forty years, I can guarantee you I have seen about as many obnoxious UT fans as Sooners. If they had a hand sign like the Hook 'Em, does anybody doubt we would come up with some tacky response? Stoops has run a very competitive clean program and outcoached us a number of times. He just did it to Saban. I think he is a borderline mini jerk but that is it Boren is turning OU into a very good public university. as for switzer,read Bootlegger's Boy and explain to me why he is as tame as he is. If I was raised by his dad, I would still be in prison. And probably raising rabbits

Stoops is a borderline jerk in how he handles some questions. He does not handle criticism very well. The difference between a jerk and a good guy is the body language and how diplomatic they handle a tough question. Stoops too many times thinks the media is trying to be too sharp and smarmy with a question, when really is was a good question. He assumes the question was a hidden critique. Media: Why did you go with a 4-3 defense and the goal line? BS: How many years have you been coaching? Best answer: I thought that was the best defense for the moment. Next question?

being a nice guy that is good with the media is overrated... Stoops' jerkiness is acceptable/entertaining due to his success on the field...
