Like several of you have said so far, I check out HF just about every day, often multiple times, but I don't post very often. I tried Shaggy for about a week and didn't enjoy it. It's more active, but I'm not a big fan of all the negativity and insults, nor do I really care for the layout. It's too much like Texags for my taste. Maybe I'm just getting old or something. lol I enjoy reading Prop's posts because he is usually fairly well-informed and not overly aggy (which is a lot like some friends of mine that went to school there). It's nice to get a different perspective that doesn't have the anti-UT rhetoric of most ags. Having said all that, I hope HF sticks around for a long time and the traffic here picks back up
Some of the active members who browse but post seldom, should make an effort to post more. It would make this place more interesting for all of us.
Ditto what LHC said. I've seen posts on this threads from those that have not posted in a good while and some that I rarely or have never seen post. All of you please, jump in the HF pool and post more - other than Texas Taps, we won't bite and you will bring some freshness and another perspective.
Hey Woo-Woo, whazzup? I don't get over here as much as I used to - over time there's gotten to be so many different websites for news but I still show up to opine occasionally. Plus, I like the variety of boards here...knowing we can talk baseball with Texanne and hoops with passionate Spurs fans...though my Mavs have had a good showing over the years. Hu_Fan has really good, thoughtful posts regardless of subject. I will say that HF has one tenet that greatly impressed me and I have actually interjected it as one of my personal mantra: it's okay to argue difference of opinions with folks BUT you don't need to call someone names. Sounds pretty basic but it's amazing how that improves communications. So per usual, Hook'em!!!
What guywall said, except I'm not in CA and I do visit TexAgs when a meltdown is occurring - too much fun to pass up. And I think I win for the most lurking and the least posting.
We're doomed! I recall seeing someone post this from time to time. Glad most of all these posters have a great sense of humor. This site is my bowl of pinto beans and corn bread.
I am still here however I only post when I have something new to add/a different perspective than what has already been posted. This is still the best board as the posters here are smarter than all of the other UT boards which leads to more civilized and consequently more productive (if any time spent here is actually productive) discussions. I am very excited for the upcoming basketball and baseball seasons. For football, I am in a wait and see, try not to get excited or worried, holding pattern and will likely post more after we have some results. I think all the preseason points and counterpoints have been completely discussed and debated at this point. I think the new staff and the team can be more fairly discussed, supported and criticized after some games are played. Also, I think Mack Brown has been beaten to death and its time to move on. I wish him well at ABC/ESPN and hope he provides a passionate viewpoint always favorable to Texas that influences the media and public opinion to our advantage.
I come here when I just want to sit back, relax, and drink a beer. I've found, much like others on here, that this really isn't a source of Longhorn news or updates until after the fact. It's more of a laid back atmosphere, which is fine from time to time. I tried Shaggy but it is worse than OB as far as the attacks. OB is a cross between a frat house and a 7 grade classroom with a substitute teacher. No moderation what-so-ever. I've found that Hornsports is a great mix and where I spend most of my time now. I do miss the countdown threads and the interaction that used to be present on here. A lot of good folks still posting and I will continue to drop in from time to time to make sure you are behaving yourselves.
I think this is going to be a great football season possibly in different ways than what quickly comes to mind. We may be awesome and we may just rebuild. But the expectations are different and there is an excitement. With the names popping back up there can be a shared excitement and learning process with a new team and coaches, a new look. Same girlfriend but she lost a little weight, updated her wardrobe and turned into a nudist around the house. It'll be fun. I hope. ...oh, and she's Russian.
This thread looks/sounds like a roll call, so "Vince?" "Here!" (couldn't help recalling the LHN commercial)
In the beginning HF was my only destination for Longhorn information. Now, I visit every once in a while to see if it is still going. Sad to say but it is still the same as in the beginning. It will always be my first introduction to Longhorn information on the net.
