Seems like a low win total until you look at the schedule and put the cash where your mouth is. I see 8 wins. Thoughts?
I wouldn't touch an O/U for Texas this year. Too many unpredictable factors. QB play, OL, WR, secondary, etc. This is the kind of team that could be like last year's Missouri and get double-digit wins, or it could be 2010 Texas and get 5.
11, including the bowl win! Baylor lost a ton, OU, Knight has to have more than one game. OSU-Not this year. KSU-scares me. UCLA-Hundley chokes against aggressive defenses. BYU always beats us or plays us close. Tech-NO, TCU-NO, Kansas-No, WVU-NO, ISU-Rhoades scares me like Snyder, UNT- slow start but we put them away in the second half
Agree with Tommy. It depends on Ash. I think the scheme will be better suited to keeping him well so I would take the over, but always a big risk with new staff, no matter how good they turn out to be down the line. Its a beautiful machine that hasn't really been cranked up yet.
I saw that line a few weeks back and liked it a lot...very strong play no doubt. I thought for sure they'd set it at 8 even. Some places have it at -165 OVER so it may be headed that way before kick but I doubt it. We'll very likely get 8 wins barring a rash of injuries. And anyone who bets these win totals knows you simply can't go that route and assume key injuries. You take the current health info you have and roll with it. Team says Ash is 100%, gotta go with the assumption he remains the starter. If you don't feel comfortable with that current health designation, you simply find another win total bet. Same as an FSU win total bettor has to assume Winston leads his team all season. Win totals are always a risk to fail when the lead QB drops, way it is. They're not built for those fearing potential injuries. This is a solid bet under the principles you make them, assuming healthy players stay that way. Ash will bring home the cash.
I may just be crazy, but I never had confidence in the past like I do now. After the run of 5 OU wins starting in 2001, I learned to never bank on player development, preparation and game-day coaching. Eventually not on conditioning. The past few years not on fundamentals, especially tackling, and on passing accuracy, and connection between passer and receiver. Basically I learned not to rely on anything but talent and sheer wits. I felt the better squads underachieved. Now.... everything I found a flaw with, is corrected. We have a 180-degree program from what we had before. Will be interesting.
Try and imagine the total impact on the whole program... with the added feature that (depending on the model) the whole is greater than the sum of the parts... think about this from a Barking Carnival piece.. And this is why I'm high on this team. Wait until we finally see a fully conditioned and coached team to match just this one example.... multiply by the whole team. And coaches...
People who took under must be happy with today's announcements. We'll field the most inexperienced line basically ever. But Shipley says Tyrone can play, so maybe. Come early, be loud, wear orange.
