Imagine if Peterson's beating of his child had been video taped like Rice. If that had been shown, his career would be over

Well, at least now AP will get his national championship, but it will be the National Champion for reprehensible conduct.

I think he honestly believes that garbage that he's spewing about his family members beating him when he was younger and how it made him a better man today. So from a psychological standpoint, he's plain messed up and needs help before he should be allowed to play again.

The Ray Rice thing barely moved the needle for me, and I think the league ****** up by just not suspending him for a year from the onset of the story. That's why Rice has a case with his appeal now.

But Peterson has been espousing half-truths about his personal life for years now... going back to Palestine HS the girls at school all knew that if they had a shot with him (to get knocked up) they'd take advantage of it and reap NFL money one day. We've now learned about three separate kids from three separate mommies who have either been beaten or straight-up died (the one that Peterson didn't even meet until the kid was on his death bed) from negligence. As someone who works with children, this dude has crossed way over the line. Not just in his beating of several kids, but his utter contempt for the rest of his offspring. Janay Rice can pretty much take care of herself (with Ray's money of course). AD's kids obviously cannot.

I don't care how many people on Hornfans were beaten when they were younger and think it's still a viable option for child-rearing today.

    Horn11 said it all.
It is totally irrelevant that you (or I) got spanked as a kid with a switch, a paddle, a belt, or a hand.
The issue here is the child was seen by a doctor who said the child was injured to the point the doctor was required by Texas state law to report the injuries to authorities.
Peterson is a child abuser, and his idea of discipline is barbaric, Neanderthal, outdated, and in fact, a crime.
If there were a video, no one would be saying, "I got spanked by the coach who had to also teach government to get a paycheck, blah, blah, blah."
I doubt too many of you had to see a doctor following a swat with a paddle at school.
There are governors, senators, and others up in arms over this issue, and it is not going away. The NFL sponsors have issued strongly worded statements condemning the players who are making headlines for abuse. If nothing else forces change, threats of loss of tv sponsorship will.

I understand people who are defending him, because there have been parents who've been harassed by the authorities or even arrested and prosecuted for spanking. But this was not spanking. This was an assault.
