Mack cancelled his OV to Texas. I still think he winds up at A&M and all this TCU stuff is just for attention, but who knows with this kid.
I a not surprised at all. My feeling for quite some time was that A&M was leading for him though he wouldn't say it. He added Auburn out of the blue for an OV on the 23rd too. It was aggy for a year and half, then TCU and LSU *only* but informally telling people TCU/LSU/Texas, followed by TCU only, followed by aggy/Auburn/TCU.... So on. He may drop Auburn and decide to visit us next week for all I know too. I just hadn't felt for a wile that he was going to commit to us in any event. Stop worrying about Mack and move on, is what I would say ... He'll be a great player for whoever gets him in the end.
Will he be a great player? Seems to me to be more of a problem child in the making. With such an inflated ego I can not imagine him being a team player and may be afraid of Strong's rules. He seems to be a great talent but with his antics hope he becomes an aggie problem.

Jay: When I first became interested in college football in the 50's there was not a lot of information available on what players had signed with what schools. I can remember impatiently waiting for Campbell's football magazine to hit the stands so I could find out who Texas had signed and a little bit of information about them. Now there is so much information available and so much written about these guys they cannot help but have egos as big as elephants. What happened to playing for your "dream school". To my way of thinking Mack has been exposed to a lot of schools, talks to a lot of coaches and has enough information to make an informed decision. Coaches are trying to assemble a team based somewhat on needs and I can only imagine what it must be like to be toyed with by these inflated egos. This is not a joke! It is a career for the talented ones. Some changes need to be made in my opinion. Large quantities of money spent on vacation trips to schools that are of no real interest. Joy riding? Surely Mack knows where he wants to take his services. All of this clowning around just makes me pissed. Can you imagine he is off of Texas because was looking forward to playing alongside of Brown. Did coach Strong promise him a starting position. I think not. Bring back the Short Horns. Of course it is not just Daylon.
He was never one we were counting on, just a pie in the sky that would be great if it happened. Now an Auburn visit? Not exactly your usual sight seeing or party spot for free vacation like USC, UCLA or Miami. But can't deny the powerful pull of the $EC. ESPN is correct; the $EC is the best conference, certainly at enti$ing top athletes to attend their schools. It would have been nice to get him and certainly sped up the rebuild process, but I just don't think Strong has to have these types to win, which is certainly a departure from our last 16 years.
Not surprised. He never seemed really sold on Texas. I want the guys that know how and want to be difference makers and with coaching, can get there.
He seemed genuinely interested in TCU during the season so there is no reason to believe he is not seriously considering them. Personally I would rather see him in aggyland where he will never be heard from again than at TCU where we will have to deal with him every year.
Attempting to understand the behavior of a 17 year old who, while just a kid, is being placed on a pedestal and pursued by a football crazed nation, is an exercise in futility. Add to that the fact that my "filer" and his, and my background and surroundings and his, are worlds apart. What I am saying is that most of us, including me, have virtually no concept of the situation Daylon Mack is facing. But... Regardless of ones age or upbringing, there is a right and a wrong way to handle this situation. If Mack's parents cannot provide the appropriate behavioral guidance, either because they are overwhelmed as well or because they are simply unprepared, then perhaps his high school coach should assume the role. My take is that the shenanigans he "appears to be pulling" are not a positive reflection on the young man. But again, faced with the same "under the microscope" challenge at that age, I have no idea how I would react. Fortunately Charlie Strong and his staff understand the recruiting game and these kids a heck of a lot better than we do. So maybe they can make sense of the apparent "me, me, me" behavior. Let's hope so. As for what Mack will ultimately decide, who knows. Perhaps he himself doesn't know either. At least, not yet.
Totally disagree. This kid is trying to make the right decision and apparently has not toyed with or misled any of the coaches involved in his recruiting.
Whatever your definition of toying might be certainly does not take into account de committing, saying he is going to visit then not visit. All he has been dong is toying the past few weeks .
I'm open to the possibility that Daylon is toying with me and everybody else obsessed with recruiting. I think I should ignore the boards and finish reading Les Miserables, a terrific book I started about a year ago. No doubt it would be better for my intelligence and my mental health. Of course, there are a lot of things I "should" do.
I certainly wouldn't put him in the same category as McFarland, Ryan P., and Martellus Bennett. That's my definition of toying. Not de-committing or canceling visits which happens a lot.
I don't even know what to say. 9 days to go till recruiting ends, and we have a recruiting class that can finish anywhere between #2 and #15 in the nation.
