Since I mentioned the Beatles, here are flew clips from the Ed Sullivan show and others. Starting in Feb. 1964 the Beatles changed America in many ways. In my lifetime, I have never seen anything that rocked America like The Beatles did. It was incredible the influence they had on pop music, culture, fashion, attitudes toward youth and lifestyle at the time.

These are all early Beatles, very short but mostly black and white.

    Remember Ferris Bueller's Day Off?

WM - I was on a summer volunteer social work program in Sheffield working with inner city kids. It was a lot of fun and an eye opener for me in many ways. Britain was just strange enough to be unsettling while the language was familiar enough so I could get around with ease. Although the Beatles and Beach Boys were hot, the song I most closely associate with that trip was this one, which came out in May 1967. The Hollies with Graham Nash.

It was good to hear those old Beatles songs. The first Beatles song I heard was I Want to Hold Your Hand, December 1963 if I remember correctly. KLIF in Dallas.

My understanding (without looking it up) was Rubber Soul inspired Pet Sounds which in turn inspired Revolver. I remember reading somewhere where Lennon said God Only Knows was one of his favorite songs. Personally, I've never gotten into Pet Sounds that much apart from the couple of top 40 hits. I'm more partial to SMiLE as an overall album altho prefer the original Good Vibrations. Both albums can be argued as Brian Wilson solo albums all but in name.

I like a LOT of music from the 60's & the British invasion - still listen to a bunch of it.

Switching gears, I was listening to CD on the drive to work today. This is a group from another part of world - Japan. This was an album I bought back in the mid-90's that I still listen to. This music is calming before a day that I know is going to be stressful at the office.

    See if you like it:

The soundtrack to this video isn't actually the whole song. Someone just looped the same part over and over again to match the video. I cannot get this out of my head though.

George you owe me one... now I cannot get that out of my head!:whiteflag:

I should probably get you back by posting George Michael & Wham playing "Wake Me Up Before You Go-go" but I don't have the guts to do it.

I saw Chuck Woolery the other night advertising for Blue-Emu ointment and it reminded me of the group he was a part of the late 60's. I used to have this record from a one hit wonder band in 1968 - Avant-Garde... before anyone knew who Chuck Woolery was. It got some airplay on the radio in DFW back in the day.

So I listened to it again today while eating lunch. Anyone remember this one?

I'm still mad at NB for wearing a green top. We all coordinated to wear BLACK! It's not like we wouldn't let you have flair with your outfit. We let Worster have his blue dreads, so WHY WOULDN'T WE LET YOU HAVE SOMETHING UNIQUE!?!?!?

I have been to Eyore's Birthday Party a few times, watched the drumming stuff, and had some beer. Does that count? Orangeblood's house was where they counted all the money. He lived right across from the park.

I am such a counter culture rebel, I defy your rules of color coordination.
