Metheny and Rippingtons are great. First rate musicians. I rarely buy music anymore -- I stream it, mostly ambient/instrumental stuff to play in the background while I work. Isn’t music great?
good lord! you mean to tell me that we actually share pat metheny in common upon this awesome forum? this is beyond cool! sometimes, i just cannot get enough of some of his magnificent south american (brazilian) jazz tunes. pat metheny, along with his accompanying band members / guest, are simply genius.....
I am reluctant to call myself a guitarist when talking about players like Metheny, but his style and phrasing is so good and tasteful. I would play like that but there’s obviously something wrong with my guitars.
I got turned on to the GREATNESS of PM and his musicians / guests starting back in the early to mid-80's. I have most of his music and over the years I probably have attended about 8 concerts of his in Dallas, 1 in the Wash. DC area, 1 in Houston. I never tire listening to his music. One of my favorites: http://www.patmetheny.com/
oh geeeeezzzz bro! yes, of course i have that tune as well, how totally cool. now it's your turn to reference one of my PM favorites, entitled.... "and then i knew" enjoy....
I kid, I kid. I have 497 songs. My favorite playlist is one I put together with conga/bongo rhythms I play. They include: War Gerry Rafferty Steely Dan Doobie Bros Peter Tosh Sheryl Crow Santana Christopher Cross George Michael (don't hate) Jackson Browne Various Latin tunes Here is a bad conga/bongo song I like to play by George Michael, before ya'll go to revoking my man-card.
LC - odd, I don't see Michael Jackson anywhere on that list. What gives? As long as you only have George Michael on your iTunes and no Wham!, we won't revoke your man-card.
I got no Wham! I have a whole lot of respect for MJ but I guess I'm just not interested in learning any of his songs.
dude, you know... you and i could take this on forever. i have everything PM and PMGROUP... even the lyle mays CD. "coming home" is beautiful on that cd. this is totally cool....
I've the same problem - have an old Telecaster that sounds like crap. I'd get rid of it if it didn't have sentimental value. Of course, a friend of mine can make it sing. Go figure ...
George Michael falls under the “80s Pop Stars” category for me which makes him a default winner in my book. Beautiful voice. Careless Whisper was big when I was dating the woman I married (1983-84 I think?) and we loved that song. Sappy time.
