Any Serial podcast listeners? I just listened the to the first episode of the second season about Bowe Bergdahl. I must admit to being disappointed when I heard that was the subject of the second season. I'm just not sure how much suspense can be generated out of the events in Afghanistan. What I liked about the first season was whether they would figure something out that the police did not. I'm still not sure who committed the crime. Was it Adnan? Jay? Both?

 

Is it a drama series or something like that?

 

I think of it as investigative journalism. The first season was about a young man who was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend. The podcast went back and looked at all the details of the case including talking with the people involved such as friends of everyone, lawyers, family members. They looked at cell phone data, reenacted certain events to see if timelines were possible.

Each week brought a little suspense that they might find something new that the original investigators didn't find. Did they convict the right guy? They were also getting comments and tips as the episodes aired, so it was possible things could change from week to week.

I'm not sure it's for everyone, but if you like the This American Life podcast, you might like it.

I started listening to Season One last week. Pretty interesting stuff.

I’m not finished with the season yet but it seems like it had to be Adnan. Jay is a bit of an enigma to me still. It seems like the producers are convinced that Adnan didn’t do it and are trying to find any angle to make that case, but it just isn’t there. I don’t know, good story though.

 

I'm hesitant to write too much because I don't want to add my bias now. Let us know when you get to the end!

I'm hanging in there with the second season on Bowe Bergdahl. It's better than I thought it would be, but not as suspenseful as the first season.

I guess the big rage is the Netflix Making of a Murderer show. It's in my queue to watch.

 

I'm on the last episode now but not finished yet. I only listen when I'm in the car by myself.

I've seen some references to this lately. I guess I'll put it in the queue as well. I don't watch much TV but if there's something really interesting I'll give it a look. Thanks for the suggestion.

 

Finished it. If Adnan is innocent he doesn't strike me as being terribly interested in proving that.

 

I had a cousin that was an incredible con artist. When I hear Adnon speak I close my eyes and see my cousin. I think there was sufficient doubt to not convict but I do not believe he is innocent,,,,,if that makes any sense.
