So did I LC, first time in my life and I'm 53 that I almost turned the TV off in the third quarter. I pride myself on sitting through every game regardless of what's going on. I didn't but today was the closest I've come to turning the TV off and just walking away. I can see no reason why Herman would leave what he's got to come coach in Austin. I hope I'm wrong
I can see no reason why Herman would leave what he's got to come coach in Austin. I hope I'm wrong[/QUOTE] I can't remember where ( I think it was on a houston sports talk show) but it was said that UT was Herman's dream job.
Well for one he could be The Guy to bring the Longhorns back to national prominence and compete for championships. He could be a Texas legend. That has to be very appealing to an ambitious and talented coach. He might make a little pocket money along the way too.
Right. Three years in and there is nothing resembling competent coaching decisions and team preparation. This is Texas and that **** is not good enough.
That one's easy. Given a chance to coach an iconic program -- in an iconic city -- versus Houston it should be a no brainer. Now he may be happy at Houston, but Houston is simply not Texas. It's that simple.
No we are still Texas. We went from unranked to 11 basically on name alone after the ot win against nd. It was unwarranted even if that win had been significant.
Reds, Truthfully, there are only a couple of qualified ADs in the entire country, and I am NOT comfortable with Fenves and the admiral paying some self-serving consulting firm to tell us who is good and who we should hire, and unfortunately, that is what will happen right now. Just like the coach, we shall be hiring at the same time LSU is.
You may be right. It's just disgusting. What I wouldn't give to have Deloss and Mack here now. I know they were far from perfect but what we have now looks like we are complete amateurs. I had my *** chewed out on here last year for saying we were in an embarrassing state of affairs when Cumbie turned us down because it was indicative of how far we had fallen. It was proven to me when Sterlin said no at first. I was right then and I am right now. The only way to turn this around is wholesale change. If I was AD, I would fire Charlie and Vance tomorrow. I would promote Sterling to interim coach. He seems to carry himself well and the kids should rally around him. Call in Robinson and let's roll to the end of the year. Hopefully hire Herman and keep Sterlin.
Robinson is coming back next year. Unfortunately, it will be as coach of San Jose State, who is replacing UCF on our schedule next September. You were not alone. I said when he was hired that he wasn't able to get assistants to take the jobs. That should have been a huge red flag to everyone. He's had no improvement in staff since. He couldn't get Gilbert to come in. It was Perrin dragging Fenves to Tulsa to make assurances and promises that won over Gilbert. I'm not sure Fenves was allowed to say anything other than "Yes" and "That's right".
