When do you think CS will fire Vance Bedford.

Oct 16 the day after Iowa St beats us at DKR. We will be 2-4 heading to K St the next week. CS is hitching his wagon to Vance the same way Les Miles did to Cam Cameron. If CS does not get rid of Bedford it will cost him his job.

Not sure that the problem is exclusively Bedford. He may simply be a symptom of a larger problem, the ability of the top guy.

I think Bedford is gone by Monday. After 99 points in the last two games, Strong has little choice if he's going to have any shot at all at ultimately saving his own job. Anything less than 7-8 wins and he's out by the end of the regular season and he has to know that.

I think he makes it to OU but if it's the same outcome he gotta be gone before the bus makes it back to Austin. It's just awful. Last year I was like it's the big 12 people are going to score a lot of points get a turnover or 2 you will win. But damn man these guys running wide open every week and we can't even get a turnover

It's time to fix the root cause. Firing Bedford isn't it.

True but the roots won't get cut yet. A branch or two will get trimmed. Possibly by Monday.

Whatever pressure Charlie felt to fire VB after the Cal loss intensified ten fold today. Its practically his only viable option if he wants to save his own neck. My conservative prediction is that Bedford gets canned sometime this month, but most likely during the next two weeks.

Regarding Charlie himself, I see him staying at least through the rest of the season. Considering how our admin has typically handled situations like this over the years, I think the likelihood of them firing a HC mid-season is slim to none. Sorry--I just don't see them ever doing something that brazen.

So, like McWilliams, Weak will be in charge of sno- cones at the Erwin Center?

That camp saying that Charlie needs to fire Bedford to save his job are delusional. That ship sailed last week when Charlie stuck his neck out for Bedford after the Cal game. Personally, I think his goose is cooked...and it should be. This embarrassment on a national level cannot continue.

Why fire Bedford mid season? The season is now a mere formality. Strong was given the keys to vault, what has turned out to be the softest schedule in decades, and is a statistical failure. Who is going to coach the defense if Strong fires Bedford? Strong? He's had all spring, half the summer, and a month of season, yet Strong still doesn't have a defense that knows their assignments and where to line up. Outmanned? Not even close. Less talent? Not until we schedule NFL teams. Ill prepared? EVERY DAMN GAME!

Powers, Patterson, and KornFairy should be sued for gross negligence, and asked to pay off these contracts.

After the last two weeks, should we beat OU, I don't want to see any body surfing ********, unless it is a wave of coaching staff surfing off our payroll.

Om a positive note, we greatly improved the employment status of Sonny Dykes and Mike Gundy, and probably will save Stoops job.

Unfortunately, re: Stoops, that game in Dallas doesn't always go to the better team, nor the better coached team.

    It's weird.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Just a hunch.... behind the scenes I think CS gets a lot of pressure re this debacle today. He fires Bedford sometime between now and the Monday press conference.

    Let the CS CYA begin....

    Tap the brakes, Hillary.

I was ok with Charlie's hire and had hope, but had no idea Red was accused by "ALL OF YOU" of being racist for his opinion about his hire. I don't owe him an apology for anything.

    But yea, fire Charlie.

I wouldn't be surprised if indeed he throws VB under the bus as the sacrificial lamb. However, by doing so he will gain little. It will be seen for what it is, an effort to buy time and reduce the heat in the kitchen. It's perfectly clear to anyone who has eyes and can spell defense that VB is hardly the problem.

Looks like LSU is doing ok after firing their coach mid-season. Mizzou is no powerhouse, but normally the firing of a coach during the season can be equivalent to throwing in the towel.

Orgeron is a good coach - it is the recruiting rules part that he screws up.

I predicted 8-4. They can still do that. got to go 6-2, which won't be easy at all.
I think ou gained serious momentum tonight. We are in a tailspin. Our freshman QB is finally playing like a true freshman.

Bedford has no clue, but not many teams are going to keep osu under 40 this year. Baylor had five osu fumbles that won the game for the bears. Otherwise osu wins handily.

No defense played in Fort Worth tonight either. Nor in Lubbock this week. Only defense in big 12 was between ksu and wvu. As our QB gets more experience, we'll score more points, but our D is going to struggle to keep most B12 teams under 50.

If Perrin had any nuts this whole thing would be over by Monday with Strong and Bedford gone.

I don think anyone over on the 40 has any cajones to actually to something difficult like fire a coach mid season.....unless it involves screwing over the fan base for more $$$ in Belmonts pockets.

And it's not racist to want Bedford fired....if you suck you just suck and it doesn't make a difference if you're white, black, hispanic or whatever...you need to go.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

Perrin can't fire the first black coach at UT. The board of regents will not allow it. I'm afraid that 6-6 this year will be good enough to save Weak's job.

The BOR has no say. They all spent their money donating to little Rickie Perry rather than the athletic department. You do realize that the chairman is a Baylor grad, who gave Baylor $50 million and Tech $25 million, and Texas the bill for his travel expenses? Besides, Mike's inner circle of friends before he took the job have more money than they do anyway.

Who freaking cares what color the coach is??? If you aren't getting it done your *** needs to be shown the door!

No one should care what color the coach is. But UT has spent probably millions of dollars fighting for the right to admit underqualified black and hispanic students over more qualified white and Asian students. You are naive if you think this same policy is not applied to the hiring and firing of high profile positions at UT.

    My thoughts as well. Sunday.
Replay ABC comments in first two quarters.
    Ripped D including tackling.
This after CS promised it will get fixed.
And 2 weeks to fix it.
If Bedford isn't fired it tells the team no one is really accountable. Not really.
OU put, what, 52 on TCU? At Ft Worth I think.

    Crude,

Does TCU's coach really know as much about defense as Chuck? :whiteflag:
