Baron Browning committed to Ohio State. http://www.burntorangenation.com/re...e-buckeyes-committment-texas-longhorns-target
Not up to speed yet on recruiting. Did we whiff on this guy or was this kid aggy regardless? http://247sports.com/Player/Anthony-Hines-31715 Sorry, just saw the post above.
Joe, seems odd to me that on the day he commits to Aggy he agrees to in home from Texas. Do we know when the in home is? Do we have a chance?
IT says Herman will take the "Mack approach" to recruiting: load up in the backyard, and then cherry pick a few OOS Beyond that, we know its going to be very different approach than Strong. We have already seen this much. As far as Hines goes, I think he sticks with aggy. If it were still Strong, then I would be saying we have a good shot still. Also, the family is supposed to be high on UT academics. IT thinks we will be saving bullets for 2018, which they are already saying will be a "top 5 class."
"3-star Colorado OT commit Grant Polley will be the next Connor Williams" Who we offered recently http://www.burntorangenation.com/re...loes-commit-texas-longhorns-target-tom-herman
Here is what Football Brainiacs says about Stidham Jarrett Stidham: I spoke with a source close to JUCO QB and former Baylor QB, Jarrett Sidham and was told that Tom Herman has reached out to Stidham. It does appear that Texas is interested but I’m uncertain about where that will go. I am told that TAMU might not be able to take Stidham and Stidham would prefer to stay in-state so if Texas were to pursue perhaps it would work out. – (Super K) http://texas.thefootballbrainiacs.com/2016/12/open-post-weekend-december-2nd-4th/ Lagaryonn Carson: I am told by a source close to Lagaryonn Carson that the Texas staff has been in touch with the Texas DE commit. We haven’t been able to confirm whether a visit has happened. Carson is no longer enrolled at the high school where he played football (Liberty-Eylau) but is working on finishing his high school degree at another school. – (Super K)
I'm not saying I disagree with the strategy... But that sounds like we're not planning on winning this year, but we will next year?
Recruiting for 2017 will have little effect on the results on the field in 2017. My suspension is Herman is saving 2017 places for grad transfers and JUCO players who will be needed to make up for recruiting holes and disappointments over the past 3 years.
i meant winning in recruiting. it just seems like a "winners win now" should be true with recruiting also.
Here is a nice summary article from HornSports on current commits and some targets. http://www.hornsports.com/forums/topic/13453-burnt-ends-1252016/#entry237458
Trying to temper my enthusiasm but I am very interested to see what Coach Herman will do with his first recruiting period. Love the comment above about his preparation. If true, Texas could become a recruiting machine again.
