I suspect it may be related to actions and also the ability to "collect" a judgment against a solvent or highly insured individual. Wonder if Baylor carried Directors and Officers Insurance for their Board.

    Dave,

Baylor may be self-insured. None of their coaches have been very smart, and their ADs haven't had enough sense to pour piss out of a boot. If they had any smarts, they would be self-insured and paying their players with offshore insurance "refunds".

That would be interesting. Two parties who BOTH buried allegations and swept problems under the rug each suing the other for doing the same things they themselves did.

Meanwhile all the other people who helped bury allegations still get off scot-free, Baylor still hasn't removed all the others who participated in the cover-up but weren't big names that would make BU look good for firing, the Texas AG is still a Baylor grad who won't investigation the Baylor/Waco police, the lawyers are all going to fill their pockets, and the victims remain literally and figuratively screwed.

Didn't I read that Briles already was paid the remainder of his contract, which was $20 million, to go away, instead of being fired for cause? Am I wrong?
Surely that included an agreement to bury the details of this sordid case. Maybe not.
Did BU just pay him hoping he would go away silently?
Just when you think it couldn't get worse at Baylor, it gets worse.
Also, there are several regents and very large boosters who want a new investigation to uncover the actual facts which will be made public, to get the truth out there. This includes Drayton McLane and others.
    Juicy, no?

You can bet he doesn't care. He is looking for money and revenge. If he gets either one, or both, he comes out ahead. Plus, he shines what little of his reputation is left, and gets the appearance of being a ""victim".

I really don't think it's about money, but rather about revenge. Briles knows that Baylor cannot survive depositions and court testimony becoming public record. He feels like these people damaged his reputation and violated Baylor's confidentiality agreement in their settlement with him. He wants a public apology and some cleansing of his reputation. Sad thing is that he doesn't seem to understand NOTHING will repair his reputation, which wasn't exactly stellar before all the assaults and rapes.

I hope he never does. Art was the HC. Whom ever he wanted to come to Baylor he got, with no objection or review from the administration, of the players back ground other than he could play ball. No due diligence by the head coach or University, maybe a phone call, but the content of those discussions were not preserved, he didn't investigate nor discipline players accused or arrested and continued to play them, even was ready to have one guy ready to play when the trial was over, and we could go on.

He is what he is, and the staff is not clean as well. This law suit is a farce, and the university needs to force the issues to the forefront. If there is angst over what may come out, the judge might consider sealing the records during proceedings. He's only trying to show by filing he might not be a bad guy, which is bs. Also trying to remove the stench of his baby boy. Call his bluff and drive him into the abyss where he belongs.

What Baylor needs to realize is for them to ever have any credibility in the future, Briles, the staff, administration, all involved, need to be expelled from their positions and a new regime installed. But this may result in a long period of poor season results, loss of revenue. But they may regain some dignity and folks may see them as a program of merit instead of the toxic tank of fecal matter they current portray.

I still want them out of the conference, unless they go through a complete house cleaning, which has not been done and probably never will be, since the administration is gutless.
