Seriously, they crack me up. I have been driving down 5th just to see it. And, and this will sound crazy, they have totally won me over. F the Perez loan. That's a crock of sh*t. Why not save Berts? Why not World Beat? Hell, I could use $750k as well. I think I want to protect Las Manitas.

i drive by there several times a week. i always get a laugh from the signs, someone there has a pretty witty sense of humor. it is too bad that their food is totally fraudulent.

Wow... I am all for supporting Las Manitas, but that loan is absurd. The food at El Arroyo sucks ***.

It's more absurd that it's not really a loan.

  10. It kind of makes me want to wish bad luck on them and for their business to totally fail. Almost. F 'em.

I'm not a big fan of most of their food, but the sour cream chicken enchiladas are good.

In my group of friends The Ditch is the most controversial. I think it is plenty good to eat, but not outstanding. I think it's hard to make bad TexMex and stay in business. I have one friend who really loves it, and one who hates to eat there. Seems like a real mixed bag to me.

El Arroyo is a hot-button place, much like Rudy's. Some people seem to have very emotional reactions to it, not sure why.

The food is fine, it's not the greatest, but it doesn't suck either. I actually refer to places like El Arroyo and Trudy's as Aus-Mex rather than Tex-Mex, although both of them certainly have Tex-Mex dishes as well.

Anyway, there are a couple of dishes at The Ditch that I really like, and several that I avoid. It's obviously a subjective topic, and people will all have their own reactions.

But one thing's for sure, the signs are often great.

i really hate the enchiladas del mar at el arroyo, but i really like their fish tacos, as well as any of their BBQ fusion dishes.

i probably was just not in the mood for them when i got them, because there's nothing in them that i don't like, so i don't see why i didn't like them, but i just found myself not enjoying them. i'll try them again some time i think.

I like the Enchiladas del Mar... but maybe it's just because I'm walking distance from the place and it's easy to appreciate the convenience.

Their margaritas suck the most *** ever.

"WARNING: WINDING SOCIAL PROGRAMS, DECAYING INFRASTRUCTURE, AND HIGHER TAXES AHEAD"

I think that's what it said this morning.

I too absolutely LOVE the Del Mar. I know they aren't really "good" and lord knows they can't be anything close to good for you, but it's a guilty pleasure. When I was in school the Monday special was 2 for 1 Del Mar. I think the idea was for two people to get seperate meals, but I just got 4 enchiladas on the same plate w/ no beans or rice. Not sure if I could still eat that.

The chicken chipotle is pretty damn tasty as well.

Did anyone see if El Arroyo said anything about the loans today? I meant to take 5th just to check, but took 1st out of habit.

They did say something this morning, but there was a big truck in the way, so I couldn't really read it.

    Haven't seen the signs.

I like El Arroyo. I know the owners. I have usually eaten for free there for 25 years, of course I have to go with the son of the owners and he always picks up the tab. I never pay him back, other than buying him a beer or drink sometimes when we go out.

The food is good, not great; it's just Tex-Mex fare. I'd probably rather go to Z-Tejas in that neighborhood but then I'd have to pay for my food. Or maybe Maudie's which is kinda close to the Ditch.

I just go out to eat with people to spend time with the person I'm hanging out with. I don't really care whether the food is particularly good as long as I'm not throwing up.

Yeah, I'd probably rather go to Austin or Texas Land and Cattle for a steak, but I'll go to the Hoffbrau as well for a steak if I'm with a good friend.

I'd rather go to Hut's for a burger, but I'll go to Player's and Dan's as well.

So you will eat at El Arroyo, Z-Tejas, Maudie's, the Ditch, Austin or Texas Land and Cattle, Hoffbrau, Hut's, Player's, and Dan's?

If you hear someone driving down congress sceaming "Las Manita's is home of the $700,000 inch-e-lata and can go to hell!" - that's me. And my wife will be the chick scrunched down in the passenger's seat.
