Reports this morning is the offer is ten years, $70 million and a fan base drooling all over him.

Co-HC would be awesome. Core Values on defense, Pimp Cane on defense.

This is kind of interesting from our perspective
If true that he is bringing Haggins, it means Terry Price is out at aggy
Which should help us with 2 big time DL targets

Also Price is good. He would have to make Herman at least think about it. Price is a better recruiter than Giles. But they say he is hardcore aggy. Anyway, just a thought

Also, there is Brewster as well

It amazes me what we as a society place value on. Entertainers and sports figures who do nothing besides entertain us and give us self esteem through bragging rights (in the case sports figures) are who we reward with massive sums. Make no mistake, each and everyone of us contributes to it.

And what's worse is that in some, the vicarious pleasure derived from the exploits of strangers is so important that their character erodes to the point that virtually any vice committed in the pursuit of victory is excused.

It is silly. I have a friend whose never been a sports fan though he competed in triathlon's and 10K's for years. He once quizzed me about my rabid support of the Cowboys (this was back in the early 90's when I lived up there). He asked me if I knew any of the players or if any of them were from Dallas. Of course the answer was no and no. He said so why get so worked up over a bunch of mercenaries with ego problems?

    He had a point.

Personally I think Sumlim would be a good choice for Arizona, perhaps a very good choice.

Yes, he pretty well nailed it. He allowed an understanding of cheering for your alma mater but professional sports was only entertainment for him to the same extent of any other form of entertainment when you are watching the best doing their best at what they do.

    Duke,

I agree that it may be a good choice but only because Arizona has fewer choices than Rice or SWT or UTSA. They knocked it out of the park when they got Dick Tomey. Every hire since has been a miserable failure. Remember that Jim Livengood was the next "golden boy", being compared to Deloss, turning down the Michigan AD job, as well as a few more. He was speculated to the next Big XII commissioner. He hired Mackovic, and his career was over.

Sumlin inherited all the infrastructure to cheat, the money to buy, yet he never produced a top five class. I won't fault him for losing to Alabama, but losing to Ole Miss, a down LSU, r-Kansas, and losing to Auburn at Kyle Field when Auburn was 7th in the SEC West? If he couldn't recruit successfully in Texas to stay in Texas, how will he fare against USC, UCLA, Oregon, Washington, Stanford for California kids after he whiffs on both Arizona prospects. Have you been to Tuscon? Best thing there is the old planes falling apart at the West end of the airport runway.

Could Arizona do better? Probably not. Could Sumlin do better? I think so.

SH, I’ve been there many times, and go 3-4 times a year to see customers in Nogales and stay with my buddy in his futuristic home in Stone Canyon.

As you probably know, some of those areas in Oro Valley are spectacular. I also know about the planes. Pretty cool. To me, Tucson is Phoenix, just 40 years ago. I actually like Tucson but I get your point. But, compared to College Station? For me, it’s a no-brainer. I take Tucson.

Back to Sumlin, I expected for him to have success at Aggyland. In fact, I was very concerned when he was hired. Perhaps he has learned from his misjudgments but like you said, recruiting in (Death Valley) AZ and going up against Chip Kelly and USC for the CA kids is one huge mountain to climb.

Occasionally someone will disagree with this but if you do not golf, then there is no reason to live in or even visit the Tuscon area (conceding that, if you are an avid golfer, it is pretty cool). Tempe rules, Tuscon drools.

Before I was hired at an airline when I was flying private jets, I used to have to go to Tucson for training sometimes. I agree, it's not a town I would visit otherwise.

To many wantabes in the Phoenix area (think the self-proclaimed privileged class in Frisco/Allen times 100). Hard to beat Tucson in the winter and Flagstaff in the summer.

Let me add that the people, primarily in the Phoenix area, are just different. Hard to put my finger on it but there are few natives and many just seem warn out by life. Spent. Like shriveled prunes. It’s sort of weird...

It's called being old. The ones that are well preserved or have had cosmetic surgery are your neighbors in Orange County.

"Tops Nick Saban, who made total of $11.5 million this past season."

Just think how many Alabama trailer parks could be renovated with $11.5 mil.
Just think how many sets of dentures could be purchased with $11.5 mil.

So much for Jimbo being the second highest paid coach next year.

Fisher can get some comfort in the fact he is still the most overpaid coach in NCAA football.
