That's double the average head coach salary a decade ago and is very close to what aggy was paying Franchione. IMHO Orlando is the MVP of our coaching staff one year in.... but the coaching arm$ race these days... sheesh

After the Maryland game, his defense performed game after game with only the occasional freshman hiccup. It was what I hoped for after seeing what he did to OU and Louisville at Houston. He was the shining light of our season. Pull his raise out of Beck's salary.
In today's market Orlando is worth every penny. It also sends a warning shot out to other programs that attempt to hire away our coaches. I think Texas is smart enough to not act like Aggy and just throw money at every top assistant out there, but if needs be it can go toe to toe with anyone over money. The day Herman wins a Natty, he will be the highest paid coach in college football. And my magic 8-ball is never wrong.
In fairness to the Aggies, they didn't "throw money at every top assistant", just 8 or 10 until they found a taker.
