Those are impressive stats for Sasha. Is Sasha still planning on attending the Texas camp this Summer?

I have a question regarding the elite teams, such as Cy Fair EYBL; Sasha lives in Fayetville, Ark, which is about 5 hours away from Dallas. How often do these teams practice together during the week? It seems like a tough slog to drive such a far distance to participate on an elite squad. I believe Christyn Williams was on the Cy Fair team last year so she too had a long drive. I understand the benefits of participating with an elite team but it certainly takes dedication and sacrifice from the athlete and her family.

    Sasha's stats are eye-popping, especially 47% from 3.

I do not have any update on her plans for the Texas camp. Her dad previously told me she was going to attend but that was a while ago and I haven't asked him recently. I know that CyFair has weekend team practices nearly every weekend that they are not playing in tournaments and that Sasha attends those.

That percentage might be expected to drop a little -- she shot 40% from 3 pt range in high school this year. But maybe she has been practicing!

Sasha is 6-1 now. Grew another inch. She is going to be an awesome wing player capable of playing multiple positions in college. Sure hope we are among the colleges she is considering.

    Shane Laflin and Jason Key have written short evaluations on a handful of the 2020 and 2019 recruits. Here's a sample of the names that are familiar to us;

Sarah Andrews (2020) – She is just at another level.. and always has another gear. She is the key piece that makes ProSkills go. The motor and competitiveness are at an all time high and so is her ability to knock down the 3-ball. She is strong and finishes at the rim in a variety of ways with either hand. The confidence she brings to the floor carries over to her teammates as she makes them better. Defensively, she gets after the ballhandler with relentless pressure.. A lot of young players get identified early as having potential – she is far more than potential. She has some flare to her game, but does not rely on the highlight play.. her game is based on fundamental skills coupled with her natural physical abilities and her hunger to get better.

Jaden Owens (2019) – True PG status. Sees the floor, can measure the balance and make reads and plays. Very vocal with her team.. this really makes her standout. She is positive and helps them through when needed. She has gotten quicker and sharper off the bounce and the 3-ball is nice. In the conversation for the best player in her class in Texas.

Deja Kelly (2020) – There are shooters and there are KNOCK DOWN shooters and Deja is the latter… You simply have to be there on the catch and almost cannot help in any circumstance.. so that really opens up the floor for her teammates. She can just flat out shoot it… many hours in the gym. She can put it on the deck and doesn’t try to overdo anything… remains very poised at all times. She has improved defensively especially on the ball with more ball pressure.

Kennedy Brown (2020) – Continues to add to her game.. Has become a force on the glass. A player with her size that is such a great passer and understands and communicates the game so well is rare.. She stretches the D with the ability to knock down the perimeter shot as well as drive the ball from the HP. She takes pride in the fact that she can guard a smaller opponent on the perimeter – she gets in stance and uses her length to keep them in front and challenge any shot they may take. The strength on the block is improving… great stamina for a big.

Harmony Turner (2020) – Relentless on ball defender.. Fearless on the offensive end and is an attack style combo guard; passes the ball with flare at times.. She is not afraid to take the big shot. As her PG skills improve in terms of being someone who can run a team and lead a team, she can be a big asset for the next level.

I was copying and pasting when your post came up. I can’t find it but I remember reading a scouting report on Deja referring to her as a scoreboard surprise. Doesn’t do anything really flashy, has great fundamentals with an ease to her play but, at the end of the game, you look at the scoreboard and she’s got 20-25.

I think Deja is way underrated by the recruiting services, which is odd as she has been on the radar since she committed to Texas several years ago. She does so many things at a very high level, including free throw shooting. The fact that she has played club ball with older (and truly elite) players will be a huge advantage when she finally enrolls at Texas.

If ever there was a high school player who I think could graduate a year early and enroll in college and be ready to play, it would be Deja.

My goodness, if we could get even one of these other players to come with Deja, we'd be sitting pretty.

There is 1 connection - Deja left Houston-based Cy Fair Elite for Nike ProSkills (DFW) this club season so she and Sarah are playing together. Read this on ShesBallin from this past weekend:
I have to give Earl Rooks some love as well. He has Sarah & Deja Kelly playing extremely well together. They complement each other so well and look better together, each time I’ve seen them this summer.

Cy Fair Elite gets their first win in the Boo Williams tourney. Since there are a lot of 2020 recruits on this team, I'll post it in the 2020 board.

Jewell Spear had 11pts, Jaden Owens (2019) had 5pts, Jordyn Merritt had 5 pts and Sasha Goforth had 4 pts.

The point guard roster distribution is kind of like the volleyball setter and football quarterback roster distribution; most schools will only play one on the field/court at a time, give or take a few exceptions based on the type of offense being run and ability to play multiple positions.

So, with Texas and Baylor both recruiting 2019 PG Jaden Owens and 2020 PG Sarah Andrews, chances are that both don't end up at the same school; it could happen, but when you add in the PG depth ahead of them (at just about every school), that adds even more factors to consider.

For us and our projected outlook come 2019-20, we'd have point guards Alecia Sutton (Sr.) and Chasity Patterson (Jr.). Baylor would have point guards Alexis Morris (Jr.) and Honest Scott-Grayson (Soph.). So, that is what Jaden Owens would be looking at if she joined either program; granted, she has the size to play shooting guard, as well.

If we land Jaden Owens for 2019, that means come 2020-21 she'd be a sophomore with Chasity Patterson in her senior season. If we were fortunate enough to land 2020 Sarah Andrews, we'd be very deep with 3 PGs for 2020-21, but come 2021-2022, only two PGs (which is typical roster depth for most teams).

If we don't land Jaden Owens for 2019, that means come 2020-21 we'd only have one PG in Chasity Patterson in her senior season, and in a desperate situation for a point guard for the class of 2020 (like Sarah Andrews). If we were fortunate enough to land Sarah Andrews, we'd again be in a desperate situation for a point guard for the class of 2021; that would also mean we would be extremely young at PG with a freshman and sophomore in 2021-22.

Selfishly, I'd love for us to sign both of them. Realistically, it will be tough for us (or any other school) to sign both of them.

Harmoni Turner might be the PG that Texas ends up with in 2020 along with Deja.

Could be. I have not kept up with Turner enough to know if she has camped with us in the past, or visited unofficially and attended games in person. I'm sure Luther can refresh my memory.

Harmoni Turner has speed. She looks like she could play the #2 position as well as PG.

Here's her highlight clip I posted a couple of months ago. She makes a lot of great plays but my favorite starts at the 53 sec. mark.

I haven't heard of her. How did she end up on your radar? Seems legit.
