Will a home and home series with Stanford in mid September. But not before a tough road match at Wisconsin and then hosting Kentucky (who had an unfortunate opening weekend but is still a great team). Would be great if we are still #1 and #2 for those games!!!
The two matches against Stanford in consecutive weeks will tell a lot about how good this team really is, or can become. The previous two years we have just been outmanned by Stanford's size. Hopefully Yaazie will be back at close to full strength by then. But first things first. BTHO Wisconsin!

Horns drop match to Wisconsin, 3-1. They just seemed slow to react and a bit distracted. Longhorns volleyball team suffers first setback | Hookem.com
I would love to see Texas offensive scheme's improve. That Moon ball set is old. I just don' t get it, with all of that Talent there.
What a disgusting day for Texas sports. The FB team beats themselves with penalties and turnovers and the VB teams beats itself with service errors and just poor decision making. Last year there were over 220 teams that had a better serve % than Texas and it seems like we're trying hard to be that bad or worse this year. I just don't get how all these top recruits can't serve when it's the easiest thing to do in VB. I know I can serve it 100x in rec VB and get 97 of them in and I have a harder serve than anyone on the Texas team and rec VB is the only thing I'll ever be good enough to play. I just don't get it. One bright spot, Logan and Sydney are the real deal. I'm still not convinced Ashley is though.
The entire match was depressing. Guess when you are behind and can’t get anything going, things are enhanced. Some observations........the serve receive continues to be poor. When the opposition is serving specifically to your defensive specialist (Hahn) things are suspect. And she wasn’t the only risk. The setting was inconsistent, slow and predictable with poor decision making. Dependent too much on White for hitting...... as not enough use of middles and slides. Looks like White has gone away from her high risk serve but is still struggling. I thought when Yazz came in that might make a difference. It did help in third set but no factor in fourth. Perhaps she will be ready for Stanford. If not, I don’t see anyway we win either match. Wisconsin is good and has got some older kids back from injury. I saw a LOT of new and young players in key spots for us so guess it will take time. Some of the above can get better. The one thing that I wonder about is whether Shook will ever be the player we thought she was. Last year with the Florida loss we never recovered for seeding. If we get swept by Stanford, there are other implications more serious than regional site. I’ll be rooting strong....with hope...for the ladies this weekend.
Ahead of its debut at home, No. 6 Texas slips four spots in a national poll | Hookem.com Both games are part of the American Campus Classic hosted by UT and will be carried on the LHN. Tx State will host Kentucky on Sat at 4 PM in Strahan Arena.
Game Two of the American Classic held in Austin finds the #6 Longhorns facing off with #16 Kentucky. September 7, 2018 Where: Austin, Texas Arena: Gregory Gym (4,000) Time: 8 p.m. CT Stream: ESPN3 Livestats: http://www.sidearmstats.com/ TV: LHN For those that are curious: At six pm cst,#15 Baylor will host #2 Wisconsin on FSSW.
Two big wins for the Big 12; first, Baylor knocks off #2 Wisconsin 3-1; then Texas takes down #16 Kentucky 3-1. That first set raised some questions as the Horns lost a six pt edge before losing 27-25. But their play the next three sets was outstanding as they got better each set. The only blemish was the continued rash of serving errors. But, man, there is no keying on one or two hitters when defending the Horns! We need an emoji showing a player hitting a VB!
Stanford takes down Minnesota in four sets today: 25-23; 23-25; 25-17 and 25-23. Should be an awesome home and home Tuesday (at Stanford) and Friday (at Austin) between the two teams.
Doors open at 7p, an hour before the match. Not sure when line starts to form. Fingers crossed it's a sellout.
Bit of a letdown, that one. Texas looked completely overmatched tonight. We are good, but we have a lot of work to do to get to that level if we are going to compete for a national title this year.
The Ladies played hard, they did not give up. I'd rather lose 2 now against one of the best in the country than in December. We are young starting 3 freshmen so there is room to improve. Longhorn Nation Forever!!....Hookem!
I wish Texas could recruit Howard Univ. Head Coach to become be Asst. Coach for Texas. Their Offense is fun to watch. They hit the ball from everywhere on the floor. It kinda reminded me of Ol School Volleyball.Because when 1 Hitter was not getting the Set. They were still jumping like they were getting the ball. It also a lot of the times took a Blocker with them. I was amazed at how well their Setter was setting the ball. Their Hitter's were flying in the air. They remind me of Texas. But their Offensive scheme is much better. And they don't have no ranked volleyball player's.
The guy doing the commentary of tonight's match against K-State sure appears to want the wildcats to win...sigh
Texas pulls out the five set win over KSU in Manhattan. Longhorns volleyball survives Big 12 opener against Kansas State | Hookem.com No. 5 Volleyball bounces back with win at Kansas State in first Big 12 match - Texas Athletics Boxscore: 12 Texas Sept 19 - Kansas State University Horns had like four serve errors in the first set but only four more the rest of the way. Looks like Texas is working to incorporate their middles more into the attack. No wonder with Brionne and Morgan available there. Nice distribution with four players with double digit kills and one with nine (Morgan), led by Micaya with 21 and Logan with 18. Sydney led the way with 19 digs while Micaya recorded a double double by adding 13 digs to her 21 kills. Texas joins Tx Tech, ISU and TCU as winners on opening night for conference play. KSU, BU, WVU and OU start off 0-1. KU did not play as only nine teams have VB teams. OSU does not field a VB team. OSU does have an equestrian team. Wonder how many of the other Big 12 schools have one?
Re watched the KSU game for the fifth or sixth time. Amazing that we have at least two and most times, three frosh on the floor at all times. And I can't get over the talent waiting on the sidelines!
