Good game from Texas. They did some really nice things and still have a lot to work on. It was good to see Danni shoot the ball well and put the ball on the floor and get to the rim a couple of times. Charlie played well but still has to get better with making layups and finish at the basket. Great to see Joanne play really well, hopefully she’ll continue to gain confidence because she’s a player that Texas can use to give them good minutes off the bench with Destiny.

It was also nice to see some zone in the game. Early on the zone was a little hit or miss and they weren’t in good positions but in the second half they did a better job of being in the right positions and being more effective with the zone. Hopefully they’ll continue to work on it and use it at times in games. Good game but they have to work on turnovers, rebounding the ball, post entry passes, and making layups.

The team looked very good tonight. That slight tweak in the starting lineup seemed to energize us. Jatarie was solid coming in off the bench and Collier... Collier is just DAMN GOOD!

KA and Co had the team ready to go tonight. Good job!

Easy win as expected. Outstanding shooting. Nice to see Danni find the basket from BTA. 21 steals-Danni was the only one not to register a steal. 22 assists on 41 made FGs with Mide the only player to not have an assist. Six players in double figures with two others with nine pts. Every player had at least one rebound with Mide's 8 leading the way. No one played more than 24 minutes. No one played less than 16 minutes.

Texas had 17 TOs, 12 coming from four players. At least three TOs were poor passes inside. There might be more, those three stick in my memory. Our posts, whom I pay more attention to, missed several bunnies due to not using the backboard correctly. Need to practice that shot, with and without contact. Those should be automatic.
I watched the first half of the Baylor game. Their posts rarely missed those shots when using the backboard.

Considering how many moving parts are being integrated this season, there was significant improvement from the first two games. How much will be seen over the next three games at the Gulf Coast Showcase, beginning with Quinnipiac.

I do love the fire the bench brings, especially Audrey. The three frosh currently playing are doing well. It's great to see Mide doing so well this early in the season. Horns are going to need her to continue to contribute effectively in the post.

Two things: still no Shae on the bench, and the second half start was 30 seconds away before we started coming back onto the floor. Coaching staff and Sedona/Joyner still sliding into their seats as half began. Never seen it cut that close before.

I keep forgetting but I was still wondering about the responsibilities of the Coach that was hired on the staff this year. Maybe Texas or Coach Aston can give us some insight on what his role is.

Lots of good things tonight. Wonderful to see them play the full 40 minutes. Especially when they could have coasted in the second half. Still lots to improve upon but the effort is there. Ya’ll summarized most of it.......and well. The one thing I want to reemphasize is how hard Warren played. She played the entire time she was on the court .........at both ends. Her defense is simply outstanding. Watch her positioning early and how she moves her feet laterally. Her offense is good as well. Watch her triple threat positioning when she catches the ball. She is ready to shoot, pass or dribble at first catch. I think she has the best fundamentals of any freshman I can remember. Obviously she has had tremendous coaching prior to her coming to Texas. When Aston sees a player playing with every ounce of energy she has for as many minutes as she can.....and with excellent fundamentals .....she will play her a lot. I simply admire her Warren’s body language. I hope all players note what it takes to get to play.

I haven't seen this game yet, but I couldn't agree more with Babhorn about lay-ups, or shots right under the basket. They are an art, and require many hours of practice. That little square on the backboard is there for a reason. Practice should be on getting the right amount of spin, coming at the lay up from every possible angle and from all possible defensive situations you can imagine. Too many people take these shots for granted. As we have discussed, they have been a particular problem for Joyner in the past, not getting the ball up high enough so that it will drop right in. The backboard should be used in almost all situations. I do get the feeling that our guards have spent many hours working on the lay-up over the years, especially LaShann of course. Posts should do no less. (Does anyone on here remember Rosie Walker from Stephen F. Austin? She was truly a master of a post who could do amazing things under the basket.)

That's what a couple of people in my row were muttering last night! Mostly it was her running style, but later it was her play as well. You weren't sitting in front of us were you?

The running style of Charli reminds me a bit of Ashley Gayle. A bit.

I finally got to watch the McNeese State game. My faith is renewed. I know the competition wasn't very stiff, but we have a lot of talent. I didn't know the freshmen would look so good. I loved the quick moves to the basket by both Allen-Taylor and Warren. Charli is so talented, but Nell is right that she will need to work on finishing at the basket when all those muscular players are all over her. If Williams can keep shooting like that, we are in business.
