One huge key that may have been mentioned already is our O-Line. They have been a cohesive unit all year that, for the most part, has played well. If they do so Saturday it could make a big difference. Our ability to control the ball and the tempo will be significant.

I cannot envision slowing OU’s O down even though I like our athletes, and the fact that we appear to have our most complete unit available since the beginning of the season. Additionally, players like Sterns, Foster and others are not playing like true freshmen. On paper we match up reasonably well but then again, we have all seen this opponent go through defenses like a chainsaw through butter. And we have seen early defensive meltdowns by Texas throughout the season.

I usually enter a game like this with considerable optimism. This game, not so much. Man would I love to be wrong.

    @dukesteer !!!!

    DON'T STOP BELIEVIN!

it's gonna be alright. Hey ... this team is maturing together, the staff is improving, too. Shoot, even Bevo has added a few pounds and a couple inches. on his TTT.

We're in a good spot. If several starters catch what me and she have fought the last week ...well, then we're in trouble. I call it the JalapenoFlu ... thought yesterday I just needed to recover from partal dehyration and hunger ... after 3 days ...

then BAM ... like I'd eaten Chewys refined mix of Jalpeno/habanero burrito or something. Anyhow ... TMI ... I know.

I still like our chances ... and I'm impressed we even are in this game in Herman's year two. When Sunday comes ... we're still Texas and that's a win right there.

I forgot he missed that much time

"A key starter will be back in the starting lineup for the Texas Longhorns on Saturday against [ou] in the Big 12 Championship Game, as head coach Tom Herman said on Thursday that junior safety Brandon Jones will play, “barring any setback.”

Against Kansas last Friday, Jones returned to the field for the first time in nearly a month after missing three games due to an ankle injury, but suffered a head injury while returning a punt. Jones left the game in the second quarter due to that injury and did not return.

If Jones does play in Arlington, he won’t see action as a punt returner — he was previously the return man for the “punt safe unit” until Herman said on Monday that the team was holding open tryouts to replace Jones....."

I dont know if this was more gamesmanship from ou but, even though they are the "home team,' they chose to wear their alternate white jerseys. And, thus, we will be in our burnt orange jerseys as the visitors.

    LOVE IT

    thanks LonghornDave!

Ya know ... I might have missed it, but of all those knock downs, Boomar never got help from another sooner getting off the ground.

It would do my heart good to see a similar defensive performance today.

If I could change one thing from the Red River Shootout earlier this year it would be eliminate the secondary coverage busts.

Every Sooner fan can say that for about 10 other weeks. :)

Lincoln's offense mentally stresses the defense and creates those busts. I really think Murray's ability to run has as much to do with it as anything. Safeties and LB's get put into situations that they're not used to.

I hear you on that! I know Lincoln is a great coach (I'm hoping my Cowboys pluck him soon! Sorry.). I agree Kyler's wheels put enormous stress on the defense too but I wonder if Kyler is making business decisions because in theory he should run more. But he's so slight; he could easily get hurt.

I think he was making business decisions earlier in the year. Not as much now. Or in the 4th quarter of the 10/6 game. I even think Lincoln was making business decisions for him.

It's not exactly holding the offense back given the historical nature of the stats. I just think if he was completely fearless it would be unstoppable. They're pretty close that anyway. Just giving respect where it is due.
