The aggies last championship in women's basketball was 2011. Our's was 1986. Not a great point.

 

When was the last time aggy had a NC in Baseball, Men's swimming, Men's golf or Women's swimming?

 

Well, WorsterMan, to be fair w/r/t aggy and baseball, Texas has been to Omaha 36 times and winning it 6 times. aggy has only been there 6 times, so them never winning an NC in baseball is misleading and unfair comparison to Texas (I'm using aggy logic here).

In six trips to Omaha, I don't believe the Aggies have won a single game, much less a championship; however, LSU has a few, so the Aggies can claim those.

 

From '12-'16 they were clearly a better team. I'd be interested to hear arguments to the contrary.

The Aggy money thing goes back to the 1-2 years Aggy was raising money for the stadium expansion. It’s the latest year available from public sources. Note this was in 2010-2014 when oil was $110/bbl

I think a constant argument on this subject is the attempt by some to claim a superior aggie program by slicing and dicing seasons. take your argument above for example, or those that argue aggie is a better team because since going to the sec sec sec aggie has a near perfect first half of tevery season (and ignore the eventual whipping aggie takes in conference play in the sec, and before that the Big12 and swc).
Try this one, what about last season. aggie "Texas lost to Maryland" at opening of season" Aggie won half time and the first half of the season. aggie is better. (ignore Texas kicked Georgia rear end and aggie stream of losses in second half of season.) Don't compare last year's record or quality wins. Recruiting rankings are fixed. Getting beat in the sec is all you need to claim aggie superiority....

aggie made a move that is in many ways better for them but it wasn't because they are now a superior team. And in some ways it is bad because the Texas schools of the Big 12 made fun of the aggies for their cult behavior, but tolerated aggie. aggie jokes had been told at Thanksgiving time that they were no longer funny. Now the sec sec sec teams openly laugh and scratch their heads about all boy cheerleaders, squeezing their packages, sawing, whooping, preventing the other teams girl cheerleaders from walking on the grass etc etc etc. aggie is a cult, don't care, but it is true. slicing years and dicing seasons for the purpose of "superiority' is just more cult behavior from the school of agriCULTure.

Thanks for the elucidation on aggy's name --- years ago aggy officially changed the name of the school from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University to just Texas A & M, which of course means that A & M now stands for nothing.

But, until your post I never realized another possibility --- the subliminal message of the previous name: Texas AgriCULTural and MechANicAL ....

What's really funny about that argument is that assuming it's even true, what do they call us over at TexAgs? The "whorns?" Because we're all about the money, and are convinced that we're great because we're rich?" But A&M has more money, so that makes them "right there with us?"

I'm honestly beginning to think if an aggie RB broke Barry Sanders records for yards and TD's in a season some here would come up with multiple reasons why it wasn't all that impressive.
