Yep firing the head coach will not cure the disease. Just treating a symptom. Jerrah has hired way worse and will do it again.
Garrett is a good coach, he's just probably not a Super Bowl coach. Dak is a good quarterback, he's just probably not a Super Bowl QB. They have a good defense, but not a Super Bowl defense. They have a Super Bowl quality OL, but they can't get Martin, Frederick, Collins, and Jones all healthy in the same year. They are kind of in the same position as the Spurs, Pacers, or Trailblazers in the NBA - not good enough to win a title, not bad enough to set themselves up to win a title.
There are limits to what happens when you don't have your OL talent able to play at the same time...and that impacts BOTH the running and passing games. And, clearly, nobody could reasonably have anticipated losing Cooper three or four plays into the game. I get that it sucks losing to the Jets, but even Vince Lombardi's ghost coming to the sideline for Dallas isn't overcoming injuries to the stud skill players. That being said...I am betting that Dak wishes he had signed that extension a month ago and, conversely, Jerrah is VERY happy that Dak waited on the decision...
I would have agreed with this^^^ ---before the Jets loss. In that flaccid, putrid sh-t hole performance nothing I saw looked any good. But really, the worst most consistent under performing component is Garrentt. Cannot elevate the teams play over a season; inconsistent, especially in playoff games.; unimaginative, lack of creativity. Then again, I'm comparing him to Peyton at N.O. & the young coach at LA Rams. Garrett cannot coach the team up, unlike an above average coach.
