... as long as there is no Offensive Linemen in front of him. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a freshman leader on the DL:

Just what one wants in a nose tackle. And to think his backup is even younger, although in the same class.

Like I said pre-season, Coburn is the emerging BAMF at NT. He beat out all the upperclassmen, nailed down the starting NT spot, and has already performed pretty well as a Freshman. Look for very good things to come with Coburn. He could be another Casey Hampton by the time he's done on the 40 acres.

Won't be able to perform to Casey Hampton level unless Orlando calls a lot more 4 man fronts to prevent getting tons of double teams.

He is moving people now and disrupting OL blocking schemes. Who gets the tackle for a loss or sack is irrelevant. Welcome to football as a team sport.

His job is to collapse the pocket, draw the double team, and wreak havoc in the backfield when he's not doubled. IMHO, while nobody will mistake him for Casey Hampton this year, he's doing a pretty good job at those tasks already (getting better game by game), and he's just a Freshman.

Why does everyone keep calling him a freshman like he just got on campus in Ausust or something lol i get that he redshirted.. but chill. He's closer to being a true junior than a fish.

Uh a fish is either a water creature or an aggy freshman. Neither has anything to do with Texas football.

You mean closer to being a sophomore? He's one + year removed from high school

He is a Freshman. A redshirt Freshman is.......a Freshman. If he doesn't go to the NFL early, we'll have him 3 more years. That's 3 more years of position coach tutelage and, perhaps more importantly, 3 more years in a college strength and conditioning training program. He's a monster in the making. He's getting there.

Chop, remember the 3 year rule is based on HS graduation; not college years played. You potentially only have a player for 2 years if they RS.

Technically, a Redshirt Freshman with limited previous season game experience.

    Ok. That's news to me.

I always thought it was 4 years of playing, with 1 extra year of eligibility where you didn't play (or now with the new rule, where you only play up to 4 games)--the redshirt year. I could be all wet on the redshirt rules...:idk:

You are fine on the RS rules, just the 3 years before turning pro starts the day of HS graduation.
