And looks like he got "Co-DC" job title, along with LBs Co-DC/Safeties: Chris Ash Co-DC/LB’s: Coleman Hutzler DL: Oscar Giles DL2: TBD CB: Jay Valai OC/QB’s: Mike Yurcich RB: Stan Drayton WR: Andre Coleman TE: TBD OL/Co-OC: Herb Hand
By the way, those positions were from the UT press release. Maybe the TE will handle STs? The weird thing is that this is Hutzler's strong suit.
Tom Herman has alluded to the fact that Texas needs to get better at development, and I think all of these hires are moving Texas in that direction. They want guys that can make our players better. Washington was a great recruiter, but looking at the development of the corners and you don't see improvement. This was one of my biggest issues as the year went on. Other schools like Georgia, LSU etc they get young guys and ramp them up to productive players quickly. From the beginning of the year to the end of the season, our young corners didn't show improvement. This has to change if you want to land guys like Keelee Ringo. This is not true of every position. Look at who was offered reassignments. Beck is a good QB coach but as a OC he is not that good. Drayton was kept largely because of his history of developing running backs. Hand has done a good job with the offensive line. Giles is a weak recruiter, but as a dline coach he does a great job of making them better. I think we are going to see our players start to perform at the level that meets their recruiting rankings.
LSU 2020 -- No Joe Brady or Joe Burrow They are also losing Grant Delpit plus probably K’Lavon Chaisson, Justin Jefferson, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jacob Phillips That is their play-caller plus leading passer, rusher, receiver, tackler and sacker
I don't care who they're losing. I want the Horns to progress to the point that it doesn't matter. We coulda/shoulda beat them last season. We have to beat everyone this coming fall. LSU is just the second win on the schedule.
Some reports coming out this morning that Drayton has told players he is staying at UT. Apparently the Cowboys have hired Skip Peete. I heard the Rams were also interetsed in Drayton.
Well, I would like to think we are on this path. We'll see how the new coaches work out. I just don't want to be a team, or fan base for that matter, that looks to other teams loss of essential players/coaches to enhance our chances of winning. We should want to face the best. Beat the best. Be the best.
i wonder what Roschon is thinking right now? RB might be better for him if he wants to play in the NFL or even college?
This is a good problem to have.....consider Sam, then RO then Card and Jalen and Thompson....with RB half empty I expect him to roll with RB's hope not, but I see Thompson moving on or change positions to use his skills.
Red means they used up the year and can't use it as a RS year. Green means they didnt get in the game. Yellow means they played, but hadn't used up more than four games and RS is on the table.
So it looks like we are down to adding just the TE coach. Well this might be the most important hire of them all. Usually it is the job filled by the guy that is the ace recruiter. Tim Brewster has made his living as the TE coach/Ace recruiter. I'm curious who are the candidates right now?
This is a list of LSU starters eligible for the draft, bolded ones have already announced. Moss and Chaisson might announce shortly. It's a lot of talent but they will still be loaded next season. And, yes, I am still unhappy over how we blew the Chaison recruiting even after all this time. Wr Justin Jefferson S Grant Delpit LB K'Levon Chaisson NT Shelvin Tyler S Jacoby Stevens LB Jacob Phillips LB Patrick Queen DE Glen Logan RB Clyde Edward-Helaire TE Thaddeus Moss RT Austin Deculus C Lloyd Cushenberry LT Saahdig Charles
It's hard to keep track, there will be a complete list soon -- probably everyone on camera taking OBJ's cash
