The whole thing is so dumb......just dumb.
Shows how fragile we are as a society and people.
Wouldn't take much to bring this house down.

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Understand the genuine concern and I have some too but think we should tap the brakes a little. We are far away from Sept. 1. Let's see where we are June 1.

Ohio State and Michigan just canceled their spring game. I think a lot of the schools will overreact to this. That was my reason for posting.

Overreaction is what we do as a society... it is who we are.
That's what happens when you don"t have....
...Well, I'll leave it alone for the sake of a few here who may be offended by truth.
Let's just say we don't currently stand on a firm foundation.
I'll let you guys keep this on collegiate athletics...

MLB suspends season for 30 days..........I would think that means no "regular" season till end of April since it would take them (players) a week or 2 to get game ready.

    No basketball, baseball, track.

What am I missing? Guy in NW Horus County has been diagnosed having it. Into hospital, checked out, diagnosed as positive, sent home.

Is this a “go home and die “
“Go home and infect others”; go home, continue with your life and infect as many as possible at HEB before you die”?

US Goverment - over react after the fact

70,000 cases, 4800 deaths. Isn’t the flu worse?

Except for those who will unfortunately die from this. Until people realize it will be a relatively small number, or that those who die would have likely died anyway within a year or so, then people will panic. Maybe cancelling everything is the way to go until people calm down. Frankly it’s embarrassing

Roughly 5 months from today college football teams would presumably be starting fall practice. I'm not confident we'll have the situation under control before then. No season is a real possibility. The swine flu pandemic lasted from early 2009 to late 2010. Hope I'm wrong.

That 70k is just the stats of those reported and tested. If you take out those who were already very sick (and died) and add in all those who aren't reporting because they dont seem any sicker than a "normal" sickness (alot)....you are left with a very very tiny death %.....roughly <2-2.5% best guesstimate (with most all already having some sort of serious health complication or vulnerability prior to contracting).
I think common flu is about 1.2-1.5%. (Edit:Moon says <1%)
It is in many ways a vast overreaction....but I guess if this is what the powers that be want and the masses accept then this is what is...sensible or not. Basically everyone is acting like getting this is a death sentence (not even close) so the "protection" becomes more just protecting everyone from the fear that has been stirred in them for lack of knowledge....when, in reality, for 98+% of folks, they are being protected from something that would most likely amount to not much more than other viruses that are contracted occassionally by the average person. One caveat...apparently this disease can cause above average respiratory issues, but...still...
Having said this....I'll cut and say for those who are vulnerable and to whom this has been or is a real threat....I want to respect them and the reality of the situation...and the very real effects on those lives and their loved ones.

    Thanks, Moon.
Not sure how they account for those already very ill on these stats...who knows?
