OK, we all remember the bitching and moaning on Hornfans the last couple of seasons because the play calling, or Sam or something, was preventing throwing over the middle. And we saw this time after time even when the defense was giving us that pass. Well, the first play against UTEP we see Sam fire a strike over the middle, hit Josh in stride who promptly beats everyone to the end zone. Man, that was a thing of beauty. The execution was perfect, the call was perfect. And maybe it signals this isn't the same offense that refused to take what the defense gives em. Sam can execute all the throws. We have receivers that can get the ball and take it to the house. We have running backs that can tote the note. This is going to be a fun season.
No argument from me Caryhorn. I think Texas Tech will be an easy win. TCU will be more of a test to see where this team really is before the OU rivalry.
^^^Good point. Hadn't put that together, but if this pass game continues it gives him a great chance to show all his throws, his arm strength and accuracy to pro scouts every week. I don't mean that he is in any way playing to the scouts--he's all in playing to win every game at Texas including the MNC. I agree with you, he's got to be loving this.
Well, we've watched the paperclips rip us up with crossing patterns and over the middle throws for years. About time somebody got the message. A fine sight to see.
I actually don't remember one hapless flanker/bubble screen. Jeez, I thought that was the #1 play in the book. So so much can go wrong with that. Never understood it.
I was always jealous of what OK State was putting out there on offense from about 2007 onward. It was one of those systems where you could see the potential. I found myself saying that if we flipped rosters, they would be undefeated every year. The talent level on OK State is regularly about 70% of what we've had, or less. Well, we're finally running something similar. At least I hope. There's always a chance of regression, as we've seen with OK State in some years. But I think Yurcich is going to do more for our mindset going forward than any minor improvements we ever had from Beck or Harsin or whoever else during the revolving door years.
I had to break out a rulebook to see, I thought the refs had made a mistake. So tight ends can catch passes? Who knew
Saving those for OU. LOL Thats been the MO...Trick plays vs teams we didn't need them for and nothing vs OU.....or creative stuff, then nothing vs OU.
Because BlowU won't be expecting all of those -2 yd hitches and won't be prepared. We've got 'em right where we want 'em!
