Nobody is talking. Let's hear some chatter.
    I'll start first:
I think Smith will be back this week; it's been three weeks.
I've got money(monopoly) that we cover the spread.
I'm expecting Thompson to get more reps this week.

I think we see Jake Smith but in limited action. He only started running Tuesday or Wednesday. Also, I think Schooler will be very good in the slot so there won't be the same sense of urgency to get Smith a ton of reps.

I think we cover the spread.

I predict a run of over 30 yards for Robinson - Tech has good LBs but if he gets past them the secondary looks very slow.

I predict that Black and Schooler and Brewer get the most catches - I think those big bodied targets are a nice safety blanket for Sam.

If schooler is good at getting separation then I don't mind he plays the slot otherwise I want our fastest there. I think we lack blazing speed in our receivers.

Do y'all think we will be a "pass to set up the run" all season or more of the opposite.
Personally, I like the wide open offense.

While I like Ingram, I’m thinking Robinson will become our weapon on the ground and until he does it will be our air attack offense.

I thinking we’ll see at least 3 sacks. One or more will be Ossai, who else?

Sources: Jake Smith out for Texas Tech

No Jake Smith- Schooler to get the start. Interesting that Schooler brother may get the start at LB for Tech. Both were grad transfers this year.

I think it's still Texas -17.5 and the over is 70.5.
Texas to cover and taking the over looks like free money to me.

No reason to play Smith this game
Will be interesting to see if Texas can get into the backfield better than last week
Looking to see if Ingram can get going or if he slips further behind RJ and possibly even Bijan if not careful
Hope to see more junk time experience for backups... would be big bonus to be back at that level vs teams better than utep and make a great statement on the road
We will see how BJ if used is at all and when
We will see how Mitchell is used and how he performs
See if K Money was a one day wonder
Will Eagles find chemistry with Sam??
Will Schooler make his mark again?
    Can Joshus Moore repeat?
How will the D perform vs a more potent offense?
How will our oline look vs a better Dline
Will Texas continue to make on field "No...We are really back statement" on the road vs a conference opponent or perform in a manner that makes people question if its more of the same.
Will we get false sense of hope and confidence if we win handily against a team whose had a few rough weeks and make more of it than we should?

On a totally unrelated note with no thread to put it on....Wouldnt suprise me at all if WVU leaves Stillwater with a W this weekend

As to the "false sense of hope and confidence" the answer is an unequivocal yes. Agree on WVU. They'd probably be favored in Morgantown

I'm getting busy as heck these days. Seems like Sam could pass for whatever yardage he wants to against that secondary. I kinda hope we see more running. We will need balance but I am sure we will be able to pick our passing yardage against that secondary. So I picked 62-7 Texas. Sam probably won't play much in the second half which will be great for Thompson and Card. I hope to see Joshua Moore lead the receivers again. Kai Money does look like a good possession receiver.
Crap, gotta go. Daughter is waiting. Ill post later.

Off topic but not really worthy of it's own thread. PAC 12 has voted to play a 7 game season beginning Friday, Nov.6. I have my doubts.

    I would bet the under I can't see a 50-21 or 57-14
I would expect tech to tackle much better than UTEP.

Because their secondary has struggled I think they will not press, but play off. We us the pass to open the run. Interested to see how our secondary performs.

OK I am back. I see the recent contents about Tech's defense. I say they cannot tackle what they cannot catch. Texas is FAST! Joshua Moore runs like a 4 nothing 40. 62-7. I think the last 3 years I have thought Texas would be better than they actually were. Well, this year I will be right! They have depth and massive speed on offense and defense. Then, after Covid 19 we picked up Schooler and Black. More speed! So, Tech has no way to match up. 62-7 or around there. We'll see.

They've been backed into a corner by more sensible minds.
Also worth noting is -at least to me- a 7 game season is not worthy of playoff, end of year rankings, or major bowl appearances

The HBU film says otherwise. Inside the box Tech isn't bad. Their secondary was atrocious. Lots of room for YAC once we are past the linebackers. I expect Schooler and Black to take at least 1 to the house because of bad tackling.

I think that's the $1 million question for how the season will go. Is Ash the real deal or was it 1 game against the worst offense in college football?

For as I know we have only two speed guys as receivers, Moore and Smith. Those are four fourty guys. Then Eagles Maybe 4.55 (with great height and good hands, he should be featured ) the rest have adequate speed. I wish that coaches would post their avg. Speeds but they don't want to give away too much information. Am I missing something?

Moore, Smith, and Whittington are definitely our speedy homerun threats. Black, Schooler, Washington, and the TEs are our big targets that will be hard to take down and get the tough YAC. GI really like our receiver corp when healthy. Even dinged up a bit, I really like guys like Black and Schooler that are great possession receivers. Sam seems to like them as well. It worked well with Collin Johnson and LJ Humphrey.

    Kennedy Lewis is a 4.4 10.5 guy.

Schooler is not slow, but I do not know his times. More importantly, he knows routes and has very good hands.

Washington is reputed to be quick off the line and if he gets between the QB and the DB, the DB will not touch a well thrown ball as Washington will block him out while he makes the catch.

Woodard is not a slow receiver either.

We have a nice blend of speed burners and big WRs.
