Texas is back in control of its own destiny, win out and the Horns are in the Big XII title game. Texas is currently favored in all four games and FPI says they should win all four. But what about this team and what it has shown suggests they can win out.

On Friday i felt like this was 1997 all over again but maybe its 1996 where Texas went from 3-4 to five straight wins and the first Big XII title.

WVU is very beatable but Texas is just so capable of crapping the bed that nothing is a given.

I am glad Texas won. But I just don't see them winning out or even getting better.
Meanwhile OU seems to be getting better and the remaining games are with teams that will want to beat us. Even Kansas knows it can be done.

Can we pay off the oddsmakers so that Texas is the underdog and all the remaining games? That way Texas may win them all.

So, if we win out we hold all the tie break scenarios?

If OU or OSU wins out we play the winner of their game?

    Does this sum it up?

Has anything materially changed about Herman or his management of the program since last night? I would say no

Without the turnovers we get blown out at OSU. They dominated us in every other category. We haven’t improved.

you are right HH. Okie lite gave us this game. without the blown ruffing the kicker call we lose. No improvement on offensive line. Running game was not better. Defense looked better except for secondary. Was a win which I hope doesnt keep Herman. In eassence,Glad for the win unless it keeps Herman.

Agree, the post game crowd surfing to me is an example. Enjoy the win, but they won a game statistically they weren't even in other than the score and turnovers. Herman should have known that and let the team celebrate while reminding them how lucky they were and how much work is ahead of them.

Our secondary is incredibly sad considering the talent on paper.

Yes statistically we got our rear ends handed to us but turn overs are part of defense too and honestly we could have had two more with the two dropped interceptions. We won and I’m happy about it but nothing changes what we have to do and the fact that it is far from a given. Only difference between today and where we were Friday is we pulled one out and have one less to get. Can we do it? Yep. Will we do it? With this crew, honestly, who the heck knows. But I’m pulling for them whether it saves Herman or not. The ability of his teams to win or lose is completely unpredictable, imo.

The Cats and ISU will both present big challenges.

By the way, OSU is seriously beat up and injured after yesterday. I think they’ll be a lesser team going forward.

I never thought they were that good to begin with but thought they would beat Texas at home. Chubba hubba is definitely overrated.

True. Remember that their class was considered arguably one of the best, if not the best DB class in UT history.

The line in the sand appears to be winning the Big 12. It's definitely within reach. Would be the first conference title since 2009. And a very nice accomplishment for the coach and the team.

It was unfair if us to intercept those passes and force those fumbles.

next week we better beat WVU statistically.

Yep. I'd say that's it and that's what it was when the final seconds ticked off the clock in the Alamo Bowl after we gave Utah a Texas-sized wedgie. That's the standard for this season. No excuses. We had / have the team?

Big 12 title or failed season. No excuses should be permitted. If not now, when? Next year with a new QB compared to a rapidly improving OU QB?

Rather than focusing on winning the conference, which is lousy this year, I think I'll focus on the next opponent. If we don't beat them, and look good doing it, nothing has really changed. This waiting until week 6 or 7 to get your act together is getting old.

I don't give a **** if Texas wins out and wins the Big XII. I could barely write that with a straight face since it won't happen. Anyway, I want TH and his finger pointing at fans like me and many of you the hell out of Texas.

I'll wait for the requisite poops from the resident cry babies around here.

Those things happened. I always laugh at how teams act as if turnovers they committed somehow didn't happen. They did. You coughed up the ball. You aren't skilled enough to hold onto the ball in traffic. Or, you got hit hard. Getting hit hard and acting like it doesn't count is like a boxer saying he would have won the fight had he not been knocked out. If we caused those turnovers then that's part of the game. The kick-off return is also part of the game. As is blowing an extra point. Or a coach making a wrong decision.

These things are all part of who you are. And as Bill Parcells once said:

"You are what your record says you are."

The feeling we all have is possibly the same as when we wanted Charlie gone. Tom Herman was there and we were very concerned we would lose him to another school. The urgency became paramount. WE CAN'T LOSE HERMAN!!!

    Now it's Urban Meyer.

It seems we (or is it just me) become psychologically addicted to a certain coach as if there aren't any coaches anywhere who can't put this team back into legitimate conference and national prominence. Not necessarily a national championship but instead the aura that teams feel when Clemson or Alabama trot out onto the field before the game. It's the aura of great athletes led by coaches who give all that talent a tactical advantage and that to beat the combination of superior talent and organization will require your best game.

Is Urban Meyer all we got?

Isn't sound coaching and the ability to win most games normally incumbent upon a good game plan, sound fundamentals, and execution? Joking aside, is the fumblerooski strategy really a sound game plan? Do most teams win or expect to win when severely outgained by the opponent?

It's funny to read the comments around here that, seemingly, Texas is somehow on the right track because the dominating defense that, from what I am reading, was otherwise manhandled by Mullet State got lucky with turnovers.

Winning a ball game, by any means, will cause quick amnesia by many here of the severe shortcomings of this head coach and players. Are Texas fans really happy? Wasn't Texas supposed to possibly go undefeated?

By the way, as @WorsterMan and I discussed at our Barbecue Summit last week, saying these things about TH and the players does not make me a bad fan. To the contrary, it makes me a lifelong fan who can't stand to see the direction of the program under the current leadership.

You can be happy about the win and realistic about the state of the program. I really want Texas to win out. As much as I would love to say I dont care, I will be watching Saturday just as I have every Saturday for the past four plus decades and wanting Texas to win desperately. but I am also realistic about the state of the program and how Tommy terrific has crapped the bed.

I feel a lot like the last year of McWilliams and Charlie, the last three-four years of Mackovick (a period when Texas actually won three conference titles in a row) and the last two or three years of Fred, I really wanted Texas to win but in the back of my mind each and every time I knew the ship was sinking. I feel the same way now, doesnt change fact that I still want Texas to win every game regardless.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have any angst against people watching. What I do have angst about is severe criticism of the the coach and team that happened around here, and then those same people tuning in. Maybe I am being naive, but I feel as long as that happens, and the $ keeps coming in, Texas has no incentive to change. And, the program will continue to suck, as it has for a decade.

We can talk about it at the next Barbecue Summit.

Says the biggest crybaby on the board.

Being at the right spot to get an interception is not luck.
Tearing the ball out of a players hands and creating a fumble is not luck.
Hitting the QB in the backfield and creating a fumble is not luck.
It's good, tough, hard play on the part of our defense.
We obviously sold out on the run and got burned thru the air.
But the TOs gave us a short field to score from.
I remember a game against OU where AP ran for about 200 yards but never scored and we won.
We took away Okie State's most effective weapon (the running game) and pulled out a win.
Certainly work to be done and the offense had an off day.
But it was a win against a good team.
    And well earned.
