How about some compassionate liberalism

A hispanic student at princeton was cornered and beat up for his political views at Princeton University. This is not an isolated incident, rather it is quite common. It is unfortunate that many students are forced to hide their political views at a place where debate and diverse opinions should be discussed.
This is not a healthy trend.

Of course, if the harrassed student had been promoting anti-bush rhetoric, Im sure the aggressors would have been labeled hateful, been kicked out of school and probably brought up on charges on some new jersey hate crime legislation. I'm sure Anderson Cooper would already be there.

Since the person in question fabricated a death threat against himself in the past, I find your thread topic headline to be quite a stretch. There are no suspects or motives found yet in this case.
But yeah, the enormous prolbem of liberal gestappo squads needs to be addressed immediately.

Why don't you weigh in on the earlier faked death threat perpetrated by the alleged victim here? Does that not raise any doubt within you about the conclusions to which you so easily and anxiously leap?

I do enjoy the same folks that can so look past obvious "apparent" motives for things like CIA leak coverups finding things so clear in this instance. Especially when the person injured has faked this sort of thing before..... Maybe he's just getting better at faking?

Maybe the "apparent motive" is to get folks outraged around the country about a fake persecution of a conservative?

What do you personally think of people who fake death threats in the past and who have unusual instances of threats again? Or does crying wolf about one set of death threats cause any additional quesitoning regarding other assertions.

Heck President Bush looked banged up after he took a spill on his bicycle.....

while you were copying and pasting from the artcle you must haveforgotten this paragraph:

""Evidently he did it once when he was a student at the Groton School," a professor of jurisprudence, Robert George, confirmed to The New York Sun. "Those of us who saw him at the emergency room find it difficult to believe he could have done this himself. The physical manifestations were too evident, too severe." Mr. Nava earlier had told Mr. George about the incident at Groton, but denies that he sent the death threats at Princeton, or that he fabricated the attack, Mr. George said."
He faked the death threat in High School
The important part of that paragraph is that Law Professor who saw him in the hospital felt the attack was real.

    Just keeping it level

    horn,

I was addressing the claims of the original poster. It's fine with me that you quote what you like from the article and, evidently, give great weight to the medical opinions of a law professor visiting the victim in the hospital. I never claim the guy is lying, I only point to the significant fact that the alleged victim had lied before.

Do you think the law professor's opinion indicates a dangerous trend of anti conservative violence or that it proves the attack was carried out "at Princeton" or by students?

If it was carried out by students who claim to be liberals, then jail their asses. The blanket statements and narrow disclosure of facts in the original post are not supported by the link.

By all means, keep keeping it level.

That's a laughable link that, again, does nothing to prove your claim in the original post about a trend of violence against conservatives.

The link you use here names not a single act of violence. Even the claims of discrimination in the first article likely have something to do with separation of church and state issues. Many of the others are merely about the political or religious make-up of various universities and their faculties. Yawn.

Please, find the meat for your argument. That would be evidence of a "trend" of violence perpetrated against conservatives by fellow students who could be called "liberals." You've tried twice and failed.

Mr. Nava's credibility is seriously in doubt. Even if true, however, your outrage is also misplaced. Its not like he was heading up a 2nd amendment rights group or a Christian organization. He was leading an anti-gay group. There are probably 1000 gays who've been beaten up for every 1 anti-gay person that has.

That being said, assaulting someone is never okay, but don't come and post on here like he was some innocent who never harmed a fly. The anti-gay community currently has a lot of similarities to the anti-civil rights groups of the 60s. Yeah, they got their asses kicked some times, but by and large they were the ones doing the ***-kicking. Their views were absolutely wrong, and those who want to deny homosexuals equal rights are also absolutely wrong. Nobody should be accepting of views that make them a lower class citizen than others. On some issues, there is no room for discussion. Hitler's views were wrong. Francisco Nava's views on gays are wrong.

His views are bigoted. Would you be so concerned if a neo-nazi was beaten up for his beliefs?

So this gay basher got beat up by a couple of gay guys? Sorry, but that's funny. Hopefully he'll watch his mouth the next time so that he doesn't need to get another beat down. [IMG]

You made a point of asking if the student's faked death threat in High school raised doubts about the beating, alleged beating. yes it does but then there is the statement bylaw professor

I posted what an unbiased professional said he saw at the hospital.
We don't know the extent of the injuries but someone does not need to be a Dr to see injuries that could not have been self inflicted.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Further, it is possible that the alleged victim had someone beat him for credibility.

    this guy is really SICK

    Daily Princetonian ^ | December 17, 2007
Francisco Nava '09 has admitted to fabricating an alleged assault on him that he said occurred Friday evening and also to sending threatening emails to himself, other members of the Anscombe Society and prominent conservative politics professor Robert George, Princeton Township Police said today. "He fabricated the story," Det. Sgt. Ernie Silagyi said. Nava was released to Public Safety and charges "have not been filed pending further investigation," according to a statement from Township Police. —
