2022 Recruiting - Football

Unranked, zero star, LB Showtime Sherman may not have an offer yet after his invited visit to the UT pool party, but this photo from a few days ago shows he still has his heart set on the right place. He's now listed at 6'3" 217lbs. He's a LB in high school, and in college he could play MLB, OLB, or Edge. I suspect we're keeping him hanging unless and until our #1 or #2 LBs say no. If that's the case, he'd be one heck of a "consolation prize." IMHO, his film last year was the best of any of our LB targets. His first game film this year was good, though IMHO not exceptional, and he appeared to lollygag on one screen pass that went away from him (he'll probably get an earfull from his coach in the film room for that one). He's one to watch.

The way I understand Kwiatkowski's D to work, we need at least 2 "true" LBs / fast, not real big, nose-for-the-ball MLBs, and 2 "Edge" hybrid LB/DE sort of guys (1 big and strong, 1 a 'rush end' / pass-rushing maniac). I thin Eoghan may fit more into the Edge type? Our roster is a little shy in the good "true" LB department, plus Overshown isn't going to be around for much longer, so maybe we should take 3 of those this year...

Barring any surprises, Finkley would be the last DL target. Gives us one hell of a physical and athletic line.

 

On a downer note, LB Trevell Johnson announced on twitter that he is having season ending surgery. Wish him a speedy recovery.

 

This is the type of recruiting that will help us move to the SEC. Build talent inside and move outward from there. Need O-line recruits now, but building deep lines is necessary in the SEC.

That looks to be an old picture. I don't want to jump to conclusions but looks to be something he dealt with a while back.
