Yeah, we suck, and we have a loser coach. Wait... Maybe, just maybe, Lindy's sucks and they have loser writers.
BS!!! I really don't care about preseason rankings but the fact Texas is getting overlooked does make me mad. We just came off an elite 8 appearance and I assume they think the loss of Collier will be the death of this team which is far from the truth because Texas pulled out big wins when Collier was not having good games against big opponents.
I agree with that to an extent. You have to also remember all the attention Charli got against those teams that made it easier for someone else to step up.
Once we get those young players up to speed, I believe we're going to be SO MUCH better than we were last year.
Haven’t been this pumped for a season in years. I think we are gonna be very good; once these freshman and incoming recruits get a couple years under the belt I don’t see us not contending for final fours every season.
I’d guess that adding Latasha really stymied any chance of Precious getting any more than the few minutes she got last season.
The roster has been updated - 2021-22 Women's Basketball Roster - University of Texas Athletics As Coach Shaefer mentioned, there's 13 players. As I figured, Precious Johnson was a project and is no longer with the team. But Latasha Lattimore is finally added to the roster and will wear #35.
Thanks for the link. I really enjoyed watching that. I already knew he was a great coach, and this further confirmed it. I see great things ahead for UTWBB!
I was shocked she stayed with the team after the end of last season. She didn't seem to have the stamina for the type of defense Vic requires of his players.
Looked them up just to refresh: Holle - Dad played for UT. Raised in Austin. Loved the school enough to sit on the bench and play supporting role JAT - Grinder. Here for the education. No plans to play in WNBA. Chevalier - Both parents coaches. Things change, you keep playing. Warren - Grinder. Military brat. Used to change.
I don't know whether to "like" or "dislike" these NIL deals. I "like" them in the sense that it will make Texas competitive in recruiting, perhaps even super-competitive. I "dislike" them in that I don't know how NIL deals will affect team cohesion between individual players, the NIL haves and have nots. It seems the opposite of "team." Only time will tell. But if I were Vic, I don't think I would want this additional challenge placed in my lap.
You make excellent points here, Zig. I agree, the whole NIL thing seems to be a potential double-edged sword.
I'm anxious for the season to kick off. I know pictures can be subjective with the ability to only capture a moment, but there sure seems to be a lot of camaraderie and chemistry with this team.
