Tonight we face the Sooners in Norman, Ok.

    ...................................PPG............RPG
    Tanner Groves (F).......12,9............5.6
    Umoja Gibson (G).......12.2............2.2
    Jordan Goldwire (G).....9.9.............2.2
    Elijah Harkless (G).......9.7.............4.2
    Jalen Hill (F).................8.6..............6.1

The last time we faced OU, our big men dominated big bad Sooner Tanner Groves (visually resembles a young Bill Walton, but not his play...), and kept Jalen Hill in check down low. We're coming off a weak, soft performance down low against Baylor, so look for Beard to have our guys pumped up for some tough physical play. This year's OU team is one of the worst in the conference, but they're still posting a winning record. Their scoring is spread out pretty evenly.

Catching them at home, plus some home court cooking by the refs could make it close, or give OU the victory. I just don't see us playing a soft and weak game against OU. Look for a physical game with lots of fouls, and some possible altercations. Hit the free throws. Win the turnover battle. Guard Gibson tight--he can nail the three pointers. We win.

    Go Horns!!!

    Tanner Groves (F) 6'10" 235lbs

Jordan Goldwire (G) - Duke Transfer

Jalen Hill (F) 6'6" 218lbs - dangerous inside and out
    upload_2022-2-15_15-29-22.jpeg

Umoja Gibson (G) - 38% from the 3-point line; 41%+ from the 3-point line last year. From Waco, Texas. CHOP's pick for "most dangerous opposing player."

Elijah Harkless (G) 6'3" or 6'4" -- 33%+ from the 3-point line; a fiery emotional player; good outside shooter, but is also one of those guards who likes to drive and spend some time down low; creates interesting matchups

Every time either team shoots over a defender at the rim, they reflexively blow a whistle. At least it's both ways, but this is gonna make for a long game....

Three straight wins in Norman. Never an easy thing to do. Always a fun thing to do.

I'll definitely take it. Nice job to close that one out. BTW... lots of empty seats at Lloyd Noble. it's never been a great home court advantage, but I'm surprised they couldn't fill it for this game at least...

Horns were favored by only one or two points depending on the book you check. Horns won by 2 which matched what most prognosticators who picked them thought would be the spread. Many picked ou to win at home. Ou has beaten 4 top 20 teams. They are a good, not great, team. Especially at home. They got the benefit of some very close calls and made their free throws.
Winning on the road in the big 12 is not easy. Just ask KU or BU.
Congratulations Horns on a hard fought win.

There are no freebie games in this league. Especially on the road.

    Weird game
2nd half D was substandard for us.
    I’ll gladly take the win.

Bishop came up strong at key points in the game, as did Timmy Allen (as usual).

The announcer said it was something “personal.” Hope he’s ok.
He provides some offensive spark down low.

    We shut Groves down again.
Goldwire ran wild in the second half.
We didn’t cover Gibson tight enough at the 3 point line for much of the game. But during OT, Ramey was on him like superglue.

Jones set up and executed a couple of good give-and-goes with layups. One in particular with Bishop at the FT line.

Couldn’t watch the game. I saw that OU’s biggest lead was 3 points. Based on the comments here I thought we were down by 20 points.

Huge win! Rest of the schedule is brutal with three of the remaining 5 games against Tech, KU, and BU.
