I recently switched to YouTube TV which I really like. But I don’t get the Longhorn Network. Is there another way to watch baseball and basketball games that are not on Network TV?

If you want to stick with streaming TV, you might consider switching to DirecTV Streaming, which offers LHN as an option in the state of Texas (not sure about other places). It's part of their 'Choice' package (their second tier).

Another possibility is the ESPN+ app, which I used to watch today's game against Bama. It's not straightforward, though - I have to open the app on my TV (I use a Roku device) and then do a search for "Texas". When I do that, the game appeared as an option on LHN or ESPN3. If I chose the LHN option, I get a message saying I'm not authorized (because I currently don't have LHN on DirecTV), but I was able to watch by choosing ESPN3 (it's the exact same feed). This approach is hit or miss, though. I couldn't watch last night's Bama game because there was no ESPN3 option for some reason. I will be able to watch tomorrow's final. I really just need upgrade my DirecTV package.

Best thing to do is sign up for Sling TV. Specifically, get the Sling Orange base package ($35) with the Sports Add-On package ($11). I just paused my YouTube TV subscription and reactivated my Sling account so I can watch the Longhorn baseball games.

I looked at Sling too, but they tend to not carry local network affiliates, which was a deal-killer for me. Also, Sling makes you pay extra for TCM and CNBC, the two non-sports channels I watch the most. Every streaming option, though, requires some compromises. I recently spent way too much time analyzing all of them...

You can't get "everything" you want without spending a lot of $. I had sling with another service just so I could get LHN. It's about the best deal if you can't put up a dish. Or Vidgo, but reliability is poor.

So, will the LHN still exist if and when we actually join the SEC? If not, will we still be able to get virtually all our baseball and mens basketball games?

We may have to go back to the stone age and listen to <gasp> the radio.

I have this same concern. Baseball is the best thing about LHN to me.

On a related note, anyone know if the games at this weekend's College Classic will be televised? There are no viewing options listed at texassports.com.

A quick scan of SEC Network from last Saturday shows that baseball games were only on SEC Network+, which is a digital only platform through the ESPN app. It's not a channel through TV like LHN or SEC Network (sans the "+"). You still have to be paying a TV provider for ESPN and SEC Network to access the stuff on SEC Network+. Terrible since SEC Network looks like it just airs back to back repeats of the SEC Now show and a basketball game here or there.

Well, there’s also endless repeats of women’s soccer games. Also, I hear we have this really cool sound dampening laboratory in the engineering spaces.

I hope our guys are negotiating hard on the LHN and the ability to broadcast baseball and basketball games that no network picks up.

I guess I’ll have to put on some bell bottoms, pop open a TAB, and pretend like it’s the 1970s.

With the SEC network having two main channels once they take over LHN and with ESPN+ covering tons of college baseball games, I suspect we will be able to get our Longhorn baseball with the same regularity we do now just not all in same place and that Keith and Greg will be the go to team for Texas games in Austin.

E$PN seems to appreciate them since they do a lot of Little League playoff games. However, do not underestimate the selfishness of the $EC brain trust about letting a newcomer keep anything from their past.
