LOL. We have almost the worst DC in the country except maybe for Miss State and thats because the pirate doesnt care about d. So whats different in the D this year from last. Pretty much the same guys but Patterson is now in the mold.

Go worship your cardboard cut out of PK or perhaps he is family because thats the only way you could love this guy like you do.

I have no idea of your support of PK, but there’s enough to be encouraged about him. As with many things, his shortcomings last year were overblown. It’s a game that happens fast. He had his guys positioned well a number of times, but they failed to make plays. Admittedly, some of his tendencies were frustrated.

It is interesting when fans seem to get satisfaction from their team’s failures. I’ll whine about the coaches and the officiating with the best of them, but I get no satisfaction from our failures.

I am debating my sponsorship of a kid in a 3rd world country and working as a mentor for high school kids to sponsor this site. Some of you might consider doing something like that instead of playing the blame game here, assuming you do not already. Not really I’m considering me longevity here currently. If I stick, I’ll kick in.

We played base Defense all night and Harris is a darn good QB. The dink and dunk got us early and kept us from getting any sacks and Harris slipperiness made it tougher. Texas withstood the surge. By the way, defense hasn’t held opponents to 20 or under for three straight games opening in over a decade. A solid win given our situation, but defense is the difference this year so far. Card was closer on deep balls but it wasn’t really needed today. Sanders blocked like an animal last night. Based on game predictions everyone made, this is the game we expected. Just win baby

Tom Herman completely screwed the pooch when he didn't retain Traylor from Charlie's staff. I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Only 3 games in so not a lot of data but we have held our opponents to 10, 19 (Bama), and 20 points - this is terrible?

In the first half I was telling my wife that Harris is apparently the greatest quarterback ever. He was making amazing plays, scrambling out of the pocket and throwing darts to receivers with glue on their hands. Even scrambling to his right he was able to make the passes against the grain. I wonder if anyone else on our schedule has his level of mobility. To me, that was the entire problem in the first half. We had several great opportunities for a big sack and Houdini managed to slip away (much like Bryce Young on that fateful long run that put them in field goal positions; of course helped by the most blatant unflagged hold I've ever seen occurring right in front of the official).

We wore them down and Bijan is a stud. No doubt.

As for the targeting, I have to admit, I'm puzzled by the rule. He wasn't leading with anything. He practically hit the guy standing straight up. It's as if he was leading with his toes all the way up to his facemask. There was no contact with the crown. Huge play that could have swung the game around.

It's moot except for the appeal. Hope we win that one.

I am looking forward to seeing what our D does in Lubbock. I think we as fans can probably learn a lot from their performance next week.

I think Your Wrong made a salient observation. First man to the ball still misses a lot of tackles, which is frustrating, but the second wave of guys gets there to finish the job a hell of a lot faster than last year.

We have 78 QB pressures thus far. 148 all of last year.

After 3 games last year, we had 7 sacks. This year only 6.

The LBers only have 10 (pace of 40) this year versus 34 all of last year. I’d also assume the DMO has a few as an edge versus LB this year. DBs 24 last year versus 4 this year. Point being is the Dline is bringing it much better.

Ultimately, I’m not certain how much better the back 7 has played this year (I’m not saying they haven’t), but the Dline is vastly improved in both phases and is certainly making their games look better.

We just beat a good team by three touchdowns.

And that’s with them recovering an onside kick and the ball mostly bouncing their way.

Guess some people insist on winning by four touchdowns to be satisfied.

We were favored by 12.5. We covered that spread and then some, and won by 21.

With all the emotion and hype from the Alabama game, I’m happy with a solid win against a scrappy Utsa team. This had to be a difficult week mentally for the team. Also, I was proud of their response after going down 17-7. We outscored them 34-3 after that. Last year we may have wilted. I will agree with the comment about getting people to the ball and missing the first tackle. Esp on potential sacks. Having said that, the qb we played the last 2 weeks are extremely difficult to sack.

Watch Murphy. He busts through double teams, gets there, and messes stuff up. We’re also better on the edge. Sorrell is a good one.

Ruled that ball hit the ground, which it did so the illegal touching became moot.

Yep. We really need to credit all those guys upfront. Broughtons made more of an impact even in limited reps. Really, they’ve all been more disruptive. We will never know the answer, but I’m very curious as to the reason for improvement. The LBers and DBs don’t come often, but they get clean run throughs because you can’t ignore the big guys.

And UTSA isn’t better than Bama, but their stats were better. We better be ready for Tech.

Yeah. I found a pic of an OLine coach at an unnamed university with the predominate color of crimson red showing a player a "blocking" technique.

PK has a long track record of defensive coaching success. He didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. Our D is looking good thus far.

Yes, they won by 21, but UTSA gets a major assist for numerous unforced errors which largely made the difference. A couple of dropped deep passes and/or under throw to a wide open receiver. Dropped touchdown, crucial offside/procedure penalties (first drive, fourth and goal from the three, do you think the defense would have held them there to a fg without the procedure penalty because I don’t); offside on fourth and four. The dropped fourth down pass in the fourth which would have been a first down at least and may have gone for much more. Arguable as to whether the pick six was forced or unforced error. UTSA makes most of those plays or doesn’t have the penalties and the game is much different.

Don’t get me wrong, UTSA is a solid football team with a solid head coach, but this was not a dominating 21 point win. Nevertheless, survive and move to the next game.

I guess Texas had no unforced errors that assisted USA along the way.
