Bijan is different. The NIL deals ensure he has $$$ and evidently a fast car. It seems a given, that 5 is going to forego his Sr year in Austin and enter the draft. Is there no thought that he will want his degree, a Heisman trophy and a playoff run? Perhaps I’m being naive, but Bijan seems like he’s motivated a bit more traditionally and may not be jumping to the circus that is the NFL. Has he graduated or plan to before his Sr year starts? Or has he spoke to his plans for next year?
If he is a first rounder he has to go. RBs have such limited shelf life and are so easily replaced in the NFL today. Hate to say it but he has to go.
Nothing official… it seems inevitable, but he is a little bit different in the wiring and he came to Texas to play for Texas and help rebuild. If anyone would come back it would be him. But not betting on it. But Bijan with next years improved and older line would be scary.

Glad you posted this topic. I have a little doubt that given Bijan’s character, this will be a tough decision. He’s definitely a team player and he cares about the program. I also think however that factoring into his decision is the effect on returning players, and in particular Jonathan Brooks. He knows that Brooks wants and deserves to play, and that Brooks wants to be the feature back. But perhaps with Roschon gone, sharing time with # 5 may not be unattractive for Brooks. My guess is that he’s also factoring in the effect it might have on Cedric Baxter who has committed to Texas. So I think BR’s calculation is more complex than just the desire to return… and perhaps Complete The Mission. Being selfish though, I do hope he comes back. I do believe that he would make a run for the Heisman (behind that very talented and maturing OL) and I also believe that Texas has a good chance to make the CFP in 23, with this caveat: The QB riddle needs to be resolved.
The young man has a huge decision to make - loyalty & teammates plus hardware vs starting a huge $$$ contract. Part of it will be where he is projected and to which team. What if he is projected to Houston or the cold of Green Bay versus being the King of Poydros? Good news is he can't make a bad decision financially. I shall thank him and wish him well. If he decides to come back, I'll do that as soon as I'm discharged.
The circus will still be in town in 2024. And I do mean circus. I personally haven’t been since Oilers went North, then throw in the unfortunate VY debacle with a “respected” voice in that league - there are no guarantees except for the $$$. Not sure of the rules around NIL, but would it be legal to throw additional dollars to him and diminish some of the financial situation. Excellent points regarding his thoughts toward the backfield after his departure. Just amazing character for a young man his age.
Given the shelf life of running backs he needs to go and the coaches need to advise him to go, its in his best interest and long term its in Texas' too because running backs will know they come here and get the right coaching and right advice for them not for the program.
It’s the order that should make a huge difference. Being in the backfield with Bijan would be the best thing that could happen for Brooks. Can you imaging planing against the two of them? A DC’s nightmare.
Bijan will play on Sundays next year. The question remains who will be RB1? Most likely Brooks, with Keilan getting more involved and Blue trying to hold off Baxter for RB2
Completely different equation when talking about QB's who can have anywhere from 10 to 20 year careers and RB's who have 5-7 year careers and on average its what around 3 years. VY wasn't mature enough to handle the stupidity of the Tennessee coaches so yes he probably wishes he had stayed and had a different team draft him but VY still made it to his second contract, most RB's dont and the few who do rarely get to the third one. Get your money and bank it before your body gets destroyed as a RB.
