When I saw the starting lineup on TV tonight, it would seem that we will lose almost the entire team. Guessing the portal is probably the answer again but thats not easy to build from. Thats usually to augment, not replace.

Also think we lose Dillon Mitchell since he was a potential lottery pick last year.

Yeah I said on another thread that we're basically bringing back Weaver and a bunch of guys who played a total of like 15 minutes. If RT can hit the portal and get us back to this level of success in 2024-25, then keep him around another year or two.

    SN,

Negotiate to have Hoff give you cash equal to 50% of the shipping cost for those receipts.

    My top candidates would be:

    1. Jay Wright
    2. Billy Donovan (heard we were close before)
    3. Brad Stevens
    4. Nate Oaks
    5 Sean Miller

I'd rather have Spanish Oaks than Nate Oaks.

I wonder why several different players had so many unforced errors. Errors Tenn's good defense did not cause .
And still Horns almost pulled it out.

I just can’t go over the fact that as Tyrese Hunter — a turnover machine — was clearly struggling to inbound the ball all night, RT didn’t replace him in that role until about the last three minutes of the game. That’s not coaching.

They have played that way all year. Neither Hunter or abmas are strong with the ball. Passing from everyone was a problem all year. Tennessee exposed it in a glaring way. In my opinion bad habits were developed against a very poor non-conference schedule and Terry doesn’t seem to be the type of coach to discipline them out of it. The Horns gave away way too many possessions and points from turnovers to offensive rebounds to Cunningham’s dumb flagrant 1. As I said, the heart and effort was there but couldn’t overcome the lack of good decision making and execution. In the end it comes down to coaching. The last 25 seconds is an example. No way that Abmas should have been taking a fade away contested corner three at that point.

Boss You make excellent points and observation. I think the many unforced efforts and mental mistakes are lack of coaching disciplined controlled playing
OTOH Isn't the way they rallied and made some good plays also coaching?
Could it be that Terry is a GREAT ***'t coach but not HC material?

I give Terry credit for his defensive game plan which was to take knecht out of the offense and make others beat you. That worked and kept them in it. However, if they take care of the ball and don’t make lazy passes maybe they don’t have to comeback. When they got within striking distance things changed and Terry has to make the players understand that and demand offensive execution. An example is that when they were down 2 or 3 with 4 minutes or so snd possession, Brock immediately jacked a 3 on the first pass about 8-10 seconds in the shot clock. He missed, Tennessee scored and it was back to 4-5 point lead. Could have gotten a better look. Not to say they would have hit it, but the point is strategy should have changed at that point and didn’t. Granted, some things can’t be controlled like the terrible foul call on Disu ( hitting the hand after knocking the ball away is not a foul in my opinion as it had zero effect on the play) and Disu’s corner three that went halfway down and came out which would have tied the game or put them up one. Not much could be done with rebounding given the relative lack of size at all positions.

A few homies in this thread say Terry sucks but players have the talent. Now we’re saying the players suck. So are we now saying errbody sucks? Trying to keep up :hookem:

Personally, I feel talent is less than last year but still good. Comments about undisciplined play do not mean they aren't capable players. That to me all rolls up to sub par coaching.

I dont believe either side of the sucks argument. Texas was lucky to be in the tournament and did not lay an egg. Thats a win in my opinion on top of the fact they could have easily won last night in a game they shouldnt have been in. When I get a chance, I will post some of my west Texas (tt) friends comments last night relishing Brock getting the F1. I know its easy to just ask, which game tt was in but its more of just understanding how bad tech fans are. Texas had a better than average year and now its on to the offseason and changing to a much friendlier basketball league.

Two bad teams that were hard to watch. CDC needs to make a change.
