The SC coach’s remark was about a very politically-charged topic, and by quoting her you introduced the topic into this sports thread.

Put that stuff on the West Mall and talk about it all you want. Otherwise, this is a sports site.

SC bench players are better than their starters!

This game would have been a 20-30 pt blowout without the Iowa 10-0 run to start.

Tess Johnson, an SC freshman bench player, is their best player. She has 19 today on 70% shooting so far. Her prior season high was 16 against Morgan State in a pressure-free 60 point win back in December. To say this is unexpected is an understatement.

Sad to see the Hawks lose. No question that SC was the better team.

The first five minutes by Iowa, given the situation and opponent, was something very rarely seen. Absolutely on fire to start. But the SC freshmen bench players came in and took over. I thought the second quarter was the turning point when Clark stopped looking for her shot after going for 18 in the first quarter.

They buy in.. they succeed. She and Vic have the same philosophy "If you're coming here worried about your stats and individual honors, you're coming to the wrong program. If you want to be a part of a team that challenges for championships, you're coming to the right program."

It amazes me as good as this South Carolina squad is I heard virtually nothing about them almost all the way through the tourney. It was all about Clark. Every video, article, interview. This SC team is really talented and deserves the title and frankly more exposure.

I think its because like Clark is the best scorer ever. She’s one in a million. Even super elite and respected people like Lobo have said she’s the best offensive player she’s ever seen. And Lobo has seen and been around the best in women’s college basketball for about 25-30 yrs. Knows the women’s game better than everybody on this board put together. Clark is the only reason I’ve watched a non-Longhorns women’s game this year. She’s different. And, with all due respect to the deserved champions SC, there is a champion ever year. There’s only one best offensive player ever.

I'm really interested how Clark's game will translate in the WNBA.

I’ve never watched a WNBA game, so I don’t know for sure. However, given the hype and attention to her this season and comments made by WNBA legends/hall of famers it might be a tough transition (as it is for almost everyone) but she has the game to succeed. Two things that set her apart from your standard guard is her court vision/passing ability and her shot range, the latter of which seems to be exceptional. On the negative side, she frequently appeared to exert very little effort on defense but at times forced turnovers or flat out made steals, which in my viewing experience is sort of the NBA superstar model. I think her ceiling is hall of fame potential and her floor is 18ppg for her career.
