Clinton is what happened. I remember him playing his saxophone on the David Letterman show which was very controversial and "unpresidential". A potential future president had to be above that. It seems like a small thing now, but it opened up the door for candidates to do and say just about anything any time and any where. Over time it has dulled Americans senses.
Oh 100%, but it all started with the campaign trail. I am guilty of getting him elected by wasting my vote on Ross Perot. How that man got re-elected has always been something that has baffled me.
And he did more than that. He talked about his underwear (briefs - what a candyass) and about smoking dope, while kinda shorta denying it (didn't inhale).
